The OP was written in a simplistic style. Of course there would have to be accompanying legislation to solidify the change.

Nah - get blood out of stones and sell it to the rich. People with no money can't pay taxes. Leads to Peasants' Revolts, you know, stuff like that.

Why don't we tax the rich 100%, just make the people with no money, slaves, and let the middle class own both of those groups?

For 13 straight years the top tax was 91-92 % (1951-1963). Billionaires worked and earned, and the economy was fine.

Hint for you - Government of the people, by the people, for the people to decide.

the tax rates were never that high for just federal income tax. sorry.

Why can't we just make the poor people slaves? they will live and work for middle class and the rich, and whoever owns them has to feed, cloth and provide healthcare for them.

No - the poor will be needed to guard the slaves.

I wouldn't call having a $2 Million/year net income being a slave to the government. How much one pockets is the bottom line, not how much one pays the government (which BTW is services for the payee also - the military, infrastructure, environmental health, law enforcement, fire dept., disaster relief and prevention, etc)

If you give more than 50% no matter what your income to the government your a slave.

People work for their money, so they are using their time on this earth to earn that money. If that time is taken away and given to government, they are indeed slaves.

REMINDER FROM THE OP : "So if your income is $2 Billion/year, your net would then be $2 Million/year".

Posters are digressing from the intended subject of the OP (thread). The OP refers to taxes on individuals, not businesses. However, IF businesses can afford to pay very high taxes, without harming themselves, then why not ?
For those that could not afford it they could be designated hardship exempt, one would think.

This whole thread is a prime example of the class warfare that Obama has created in this country. It's amazing how many of the liberals are so jealous of the rich and think they are entitled to more of their money. Many of these rich people probably worked very hard to get where they are today such as college, grad school, began work, possibly working very long hours, taking risks with the money in investments, and after all that, the libs get all whiney and stomp their feet and demand more tax from the rich for those who dropped out of high school, can't keep a job since they can't wake up every morning, or can't stop smoking the hoochie long enough to pass a drug test. Sorry, but the rich should be more of an inspiration for the rest of us to want to learn from them. We should be more interested in how to bring the bottom half up instead of the top half down.

The "Beatles" didn't leave England, John Lennon did. 3 other Beatles remained home. As far as the "move to another country" talking point is concerned, top bracket US taxes were 94% at one time. People didn't move away. They were 91-92% for 13 straight years (1951-1963). The rich stayed here. Moving to other countries is easier said than done. People miss things. Get homesick.

Why should anyone be jealous of the rich? And what on earth can it possibly have to do with liberalism, the ideology of capitalism? Americans are extremely weird!

Pretty easy to take other peoples' money, isn't it? There is a lot of envy going around here.

You certainly aren't. There's business owners out there who think we should be paying them $10/hour to work for them. LOL.
