It is the rich who take other people's money, you know. That's why they are rich.

Why in the world would you penalize success? It is like taxing savings to inspire capital. Stupid. If you are envious of rich people, then make it a point to get rich. Anything given for nothing has no value and is soon lost. I refer to welfare recipients and to countries that want us to fight for their freedoms. Fight for your own freedoms, as our founding fathers did, and it will have value.

How many people do you believe make over 2 billion per year? There would be a very short list. Taking their money won't even put a dent in the deficit, so your plan would be unsuccessful outside of punishing a few extremely rich individuals.

My example of somebody making 10 million a year is a much more realistic example. Somebody making this amount would definitely be in the top 1% of wage earners in the country. Your plan would leave them with less than a greeter at Walmart. How does that make sense?

Here's a great video that explains how your thinking is wrong, and why taking the rich's money (all of it) won't help our budget problems.

You're not just targeting people who make 2 billion a year or more. Let's be honest.

Although I'm not a liberal, I would say I could certainly live without a "bloated" government, but a big government (like the Eisenhower years) is essential to national defense and effective maintainance of homeland security agencies.
If he had the inclination, Obama still wouldn't be able to replicate the Operation Wetback of 1954 when Eisenhower (my favorite president) chased hordes of illegal aliens back to Mexico. Little/lean governments can't afford the ICE and CBP agents to do that, let alone to fund FBI work to combat Al Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and other assorted *******ed miscreants.

Classic liberalism or modern day liberalism? The latter has little to do with capitalism.

Providing for national defense is a legitimate function of Government, according to the Constitution. That's not what I'm talking about cutting. Our entitlement programs are what is draining the country dry and bankrupting us, so those are where we need to focus.

Restoring the normal taxation of the past 94 years (when top bracket taxes were 70-94%) isn't hating anybody, it's being NORMAL. As opposed to the extremely ABnormal taxation of the past 30 years.

Eisenhower has a 91-92% tax on the top rich for his whole 8 years. I don't think he hated them. Rather than hatred of anyone, Protection from Japs, Nazis, North Koreans, Russians, Cubans, etc. was the idea

Has nothing to do with jealousy. Taxation in the 90%s is NORMAL taxation. Our current rates are extreme UNDERtaxation.

    They will leave.

Over taxing and over regulation is why so many companies are now in China and India.

Back in Eisenhower's time, the world wasn't globalized like it is now. Businesses couldn't move somewhere else and do business easily like they can now. Tax them at 94% nowadays, and they will go somewhere else to make money.

Eisenhower was a great general, but he wasn't a great President. Reagan lowered the tax rates for the rich in the 80's and revenues to the Government increased drastically. That's the model we should follow.

    1. Of course, I consider cutting spending a reasonable thing IN ADDITION TO restoring normal taxation. As long as it cuts the stupid stuff and doesn't mess with Social Security, Medicare, infrastructure, disaster relief, and homeland security.

    2. Restoring normal taxation is not punishing anybody.

Sorry for you. The rates I quoted are historical FACTS. You don't get to debate them. http://ntu.org/tax-basics/history-of-federal-individual-1.html

The typical billionaire in America, spends far more of his time playing golf, having sex, and fishing, than he does doing any kind of work, but you're entitled to your viewpoint.

Evidence would be helpful. Otherwise this is just a stereotype.

Steve Jobs, to the best of my knowledge, was extremely hard working. Was he atypical, in your opinion?

    1. The rich have been waging "class warfare" upon the middle class for thousands of years. The minute the middle class strikes back, they're accused of engaging in "CLASS WARFARE !!!!!!!!"

    2. I'm not a liberal. I'm a true (Eisenhower) conservative, who knows a high taxation and big strong government is essential to maintain national security - especially in this day and age when we are threatened (and attacked) by uncivilized, Muslim, barbaric savages.

    3. Many people have done all the things you said (grad school, hard work, military service, etc) and are now poor and unemployed. And they don't take drugs.
