Brett Kavanaugh's freshman-year roommate at Yale, James Roche, said in a statement Monday that, despite not observing the incident described by Debbie Ramirez, who accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct while at college, he does remember that "Brett was a notably heavy drinker" and that he "became aggressive and belligerent when he was very drunk."

Key quote: "Based on my time with Debbie, I believe her to be unsually honest and straightforward and I cannot imagine her making this up. Based on my time with Brett, I believe that he and his social circle were capable of the actions that Debbie described."

Why it matters: Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied both Ramirez's and Christine Blasey Ford's allegations of sexual misconduct. In a Fox News interview on Monday, he also defended his character and behavior in both high school and at Yale, stating that he was focused on academics, athletics and church.

Full statement from Roche: "I was Brett Kavnanaugh's roommate at Yale University in the Fall of 1983. We shared a two-bedroom unit in the basement of Lawrence Hall on the Old Campus. Despite our living conditions, Brett and I did not socialize beyond the first few days of freshman year. We talked at night as freshman roommates do and I would see him as he returned from nights out with his friends.

Anecdotal though it may be, the evidence of a track record of sexually abusive behavior by Brett and his drinking buds has become overwhelming.

Every human on this planet not in a vegetative state is capable of assault.

Just say you want to block him irrespective of any reasoning, just because he's the GOP nominee. I was constantly trying to get the GOP do this with Garland but they wouldn't budge. Both cases are so obviously partisan spin that I don't know why either side bothers with the facade.

But of course the case is slightly different here because the Democrats have no power themselves, they have to convince establishment Republicans like Flake to jump to the intersectional cause. With Garland the Republicans could admit they just want to block the Dem nominee then proceed to do just that on their own steam. Democrats have to beg RINOs.

But you are not Schumer, you're just some internet poster. So dispense with the nonsense and be honest, you don't need some fake reasoning to justify your position.

The statement is based on an observation that is personal, up close, with Judge K.

The statement is not good for K.

I wonder what the political bias of the roommate is?

It's the roommate's integrity that counts, not his political 'bias.'

The dems are making complete fools of themselves over this. They will pay a price for it.

The GOP are making complete fools of themselves over this. The Judge K nomination and hearings will cause female voters and those who believe in political integrity to vote against the GOP.

What is sad is that the SCOTUS is just as politicized as Congress. That was hastened by the elections of 2000.

Absolutely Positively a complete load of pap.Pure driven balderdash.
Not one human being can back up personally or Has backed up these
accounts of sexual assault.NOT One.Not One shred of evidence.
This claim of sexual assault would never make it to court.
There has to be at least some form of accounting in the way of
Date and time and location and some corroboration.
This is such a failed fable it makes Grimms Fairly Tale seem like
a Law School course in Ethics at some super Liberal Arts college.
The dems have went an done it this time. They pulled and yanked their
political pranks way too far. There are Mother's { Mommies } out there
who will never succumb to this ballbusting approach that ALL Woman
must be believed. On that face of it it's Insane.
It's almost like saying Dogs in a Kennell are incapable of biting.
That those who grew-up in an Orphanage turn out to be vegetarians.
That Archie Bunker should have Left - All in Family - after the 3rd season
    to run for Congress.
Madness only sells when adapted for some Theatre release of a
Horror flick.Or the latest Stephen King Novel.

Yup there are 2 schools on the SCOTUS, those that legislate from the bench and those that follow the Constitution. I side with the Constitution followers and what is funny is the oath a SCOTUS judge takes entering the office promises to uphold the Constitution but the ones that legislate from the bench do everything but uphold the Constitution.

How utterly short-sighted and profound.Females are still human beings.
They have Fathers and Brothers and Uncles and Grandfathers and
Sons and cousins.Boyfriends and Bosses and fellow workers.
You can't pigeionhole the entire Female gender by one dopey standard.
Especially when and where Democrats are concerned.
The lessons of Tawana Brawley and the Duke Rape case and even
the Central Park Jogger { that female was treated like week old
garbage by Al Sharpton and his rabid bunch of lunatics }.
Or how about the use of Dynamic Doublestand regarding Keith
Ellison and his accuser. His former girlfriend has Proof as to sexual
abuse. She,also,is being treated like week old,tossed-out garbage.
This Country is still a far majority of Conservatives.Definately not
Liberals or even Liberals and Moderates.
Eventually Women { females } are gonna tire of being used by
the Democrats.Like the way Blacks are.

Ok, so the roommate has no first hand knowledge of any illegal or criminal conduct, but chose to make the allegation anyway. That leads me to believe that he has zero integrity. None.

Why? If the guy never actually interacted, but only casually or covertly observed, how does this give Roche the ability to make any comment? What truth rings true to you? That you sympathize with Roche as someone who wasn't part of the circle of friends he hoped to be a part of? That you weren't included, like Roche in the activities? Is that the part that rings true to you?

His OPINION, is what the FBI does, then goes from there. That, is why the Republicans are peeing themselves over an FBI investigation.

So, his integrity is questionable. He has no knowledge of, or examples of the kind of behavior that could justify his opinion. What probative value does this one's opinion provide? He isn't a credible expert, wasn't a credible expert at the time, so what value then is his opinion? I have an opinion, quick call the FBI.
