No, not in every way, but in meaningful, important ways. At least our cities don't look like the bad parts of LA, nor do we have such a high percentage of illegal aliens living in our state, as the State protects them from immigration enforcement. If you travel through this state, you will only hear english being spoken, and citizens still work most of the jobs here.

Where Mississippi has greatly improved since the 50s and 60s, Ca had gone down the tubes. I would rather go up, than to spiral downward as Ca has done. Mississippi, could only go up, while Ca reached its apex of "civilization" and culture in the past.

I expect Ca to be more like Mexico than america within a few more decades. And that is a downward spiral. Of course, if you have never known anything but a downward spiral, you might not even notice.

Are you serious about Mississippi being better than California? Do you work for the state chamber of commerce?

I am serious in the areas that I have noted. If I had kids to raise up again, I would always choose this state over Ca. The only way you could get me to go to look at Ca, again, is if you held a gun to my head. Unless you were of course talking about the natural sights to see, and I like it that one can buy pot there and consume it without going to prison. ha ha

But your state is going down the tubes, from choices made by your rulers, and a loony tunes mindset that will lead to a worsening of conditions in Ca. That you guys continue to spit into the wind while ignoring the spittle covering your faces is a problem.

But I am sure there are areas of Ca untouched by the incoherence and poor judgement. But it would not be LA nor San Francisco, that is for damned sure. ha ha

Sorry, but there are plenty of americans who see Ca as a failure, and going down the tubes, with no end in sight. And would never choose to live there. For real, genuine, valid reasons. And yet Ca used to be such a nice state to live in. Probably before you were born, so you have nothing to use as a measure.

The new mayor of San Francisco has admitted that CA is a failed state.

"When pressed about whether her plan calls for harsher penalties against those who litter or defecate on city streets, Breed said "I didn’t express anything about a penalty." Instead, the mayor said she has encouraged nonprofits "to talk to their clients, who, unfortunately, were mostly responsible for the conditions of our streets.

Viral Investigation Exposed San Francisco's 'Diseased Streets'"

On Friday, two days after Breed's inauguration, the new mayor during an afternoon stroll saw firsthand the reality and challenges of the city. Video recorded by NBC Bay Area shows a man prepping a needle as Breed walked by.

    More Feces on Sidewalks

"I will say there is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here," Breed said. "That is a huge problem and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans."
NBC NEWS, SF Mayor: 'There's More Feces ... Than I've Ever Seen', Mayor London Breed discusses her plan to clean up San Francisco in her first one-on-one interview since taking office, By Bigad Shaban, Robert Campos and Anthony Rutanashoodech, Published at 6:30 PM PDT on Jul 13, 2018. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/loc...e-sidewalks-than-Ive-ever-seen-488156431.html

The mayor's "plan" has been an epic fail.

It's touching how many non-California Republicans are fearful that California is "going down the tubes". Why not worry about obesity rates in Mississippi?

I've never been to Mississippi but now that I am retired my hope is to rent a winnebago and travel the country. I have a friend in Gulfport and would love to see nearby New Orleans.

California will, unfortunately, be one of the great legacies of the progressive movement.

Well, bad ideas, bad judgement, created by a deeply flawed ideology, has consequences and repercussions. And it is good that this is how reality works. Otherwise, others might go down that path and repeat the mistakes.

So Ca will serve as what it would be idiotic to emulate. And, IMO, that is the value of Ca.

The signs of the degradation of Ca are clear and obvious. What you see in Ca is what one sees when bad ideas and ignorance are allowed to rule over good ideas and rational, logical, reasonable intellects.

The radical nature of this kind of progressivism is evidenced by the outcome of it.

I haven't read the entire article but the last excerpt [#3] is a downright untruth. I think you have traveled the state extensively [based on your past posts] and assume you've seen a bit of the nation. Should we start taking a closer look at other states, esp Red states?

I am somewhat familiar with Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan and understand the Californio history/ resentment of Anglo invasion in the mid 1800's. We know the rich history of Spanish/ Mexican rule of California [ie. El Camino Real/ missions/ ranchos]. But Spaniards displaced native peoples, made them live at the missions. Fr Serra abused Indians.

Maybe the world's 5th strongest economy is "evidence". Where does your state rate? What state do you live in?

Been to 49 of the 50 states. Never made it to Alaska.

Been to more than a few shithole third world countries back when they were real third world countries, Mexico, Panama, El Salvador along with South Vietnam and Thailand.

Been to Canada, Japan, Communist China and England, Germany, France and a few other European countries. I can say I been to Europe when Europe was still Europe. Been to Rhodesia and South Africa before they became basket cases because of socialism.

    Today there are two California's.

Here you go again. Spraying propaganda about "Republicans and Russians promoting" but can't detail exactly what it is they are promoting. ROFL.

Look, your low IQ is preventing you from even generating a cogent response. California is a liberal hell hole. The nations highest supplemental poverty rate. One-third of the nation's entire poverty receiving population in this country. Horrific debt. Illegal aliens running loose draining resources. Feces, urine, and needles all over the streets. Homeless everywhere. All these problems coincided exactly when Democrats took control.

A state with that many natural resources should never be like this. Liberalism is a disease in and of itself. It destroys everything decent about society.

Now go help your left wing people who are suffering, who are homeless, who are doing drugs, who are in poverty, who are defecating on the streets. Cretin.

This is just silly. American cities are filled with poor people, often minorities and immigrants, legal and illegal, as richer more conservative whites have moved to the suburbs. Why are inner ciries liberal? Because liberals are their only help and hope. Why are inner cities poor? Because suburbs have higher tax revenues and fewer social problems.

So, why do we have a lot of illegal immigrants? Until a few years ago, it was a push by conservative employers for lax enforcement of laws against employing illegals. Trump is one such employer--witness the recent firings of illegals by the Trump golf properties.
You're spinning lies. Is this a deliberate attempt to drive a wedge between Americans?
Comparing Democrats to Maduro is ludicrous misrepresentation. Utterly stupid. Irrational.

We don't need your attack dog approach.

Instead, we need a national ID modeled on the Nexus Pass that can be used to make sure employers only hire people entitled to work here, and that includes domestics and day labor. Anyone who hires an illegal gets fined, and lots of illegals get jail time. We can use physical barriers and other means as required, but the ID card is key.

American workers shouldn't have to compete against illegal immigrants for jobs. I don't care if illegals have low crime rates (they do).

Family reunification for legal immigrants? Yes--spouses and minor children as long as they don't have criminal records.

Illegals here now? I'm inclined toward generosity providing we get the national ID and smart border barriers that no doubt include wall-like structures in some areas.

Trump shouldn't get a dime until he puts forward a comprehensive border barrier plan. Then we should fund it if it makes sense. I'd like too see a comprehensive solution because the various parts of a complete program interact.

Or why they don't live in Palos Verdes or Newport Beach where they're ushered out by the cops.

These days, you have to wonder about the legitimacy of a seeder post filled with falsehoods.

Victor Hanson's views on race are controversial bordering on racism. Let's face it, the San Joaquin valley has always been dullsville unless fields of vegetables/ groves are your thing. Aside from agriculture it has never been a thriving region.

Your world travels make you reliable in comparing California to what you have seen. That is why I find it interesting that you post opinions that are contrary to the truth unless you are just being preposterous out of boredom.

Palos Verdes and Newport Beach law enforcement is proactive and politically incorrect. Low crime and few homeless and not so many free stuff.

But Palos Verdes does have it's Nazis (Surf Nazis)

As a kid growing up I remember California's Central Valley with all of the family owned farms.

The Jolly Green Giant ate them all up.
