Yes and when you ask for a diet coke the stewardess opens the can and fills the cup and hands you both. Its been the same on thousands of flights Ive taken. If they were treating other passengers different then she has a gripe but I havent seen proof of that yet.

I think boycotts are useless in most cases and all they do is make those doing the boycotts good. But usually they do little harm to the business they are boycotting and in some instances they backfire and the business does more business because of the anti boycott backlash.

I suppose a Muslim Scholar is like a professor or akin to it. But I also think a non-Muslim Scholar would be an Arab Scholar, or an Egyptian Scholar or an Iraqi Scholar. A Muslim Scholar does not have to originate from the middle east or that part of the world. Perhaps a professor of Muslim Studies can be called a Muslim Scholar even though he is an American or Canadian or French or what ever.

    I just do not know.

I'm not for organized, planned out boycotts as they do exactly what you said.... they tend to backfire when the group that supports them, organizes and makes a point to anti-boycott them.

Look at Chic-fil-a...... gays had a full attack on them because of their beliefs, and Romney came out and had a support CFA day and CFA ended the year with their busiest day in the history of the franchise, and recorded their highest profits to date....... all because those who supported CFA's right to donate to FCS and support their religious beliefs came out in support.

WHen the Baptists boycotted Disney.... Disney made more money due to support for the cause the baptists were boycotting.

I personally boycott a lot of places for various reasons.... but it's never because some political group told me to.

Maybe she can get a bunch of her muslim friends and boycott this particular carrier. Let everybody know that muslims refuse to fly the unfriendly skies of united and get back to me on how that works out.

Technically, if you consider black on black crime, Democrats have killed more Americans than any group in the past few years.

Oh I agree, the original Chic-fil-a or Dwarf House is right up the road from me in Hapeville. Lots of roads around here have been named after S. Cathy Truett. I remember that boycott and your are correct, people flocked to Chic-fil-a's.

I never taken part in any boycott, now I stopped shopping or going to certain places because their service or goods sucked. But never boycotted a thing. I think everyone of us are entitled to their personal point of view on what ever subject, whether I think they are right or wrong.

I belong to a very elite group of people that are not afraid to stand their ground and don't care about political correctness.

As far as my discriminations, I don't have any. However, I don't trust the muslim faith because of what they've done to us in the past, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. If that means some muslim not getting on a plane then I don't care. I don't fly so it's no sweat off me either way.

But here's the best part... I don't care what anyone thinks, just because you were scared into thinking the way you think, you won't and can't scare me into thinking like you.

I don't eat Ben and Jerry's in their politicized agenda..... I can't say I will eve buy apple products either. How they can posture against Indiana over a law that allows Christian bakers not to be forced to bake a cake for a gay wedding, while at the same time, expanding the apple market in Saudi Arabia where they kill gays for being gay.

I won't shop Pac-Sun anymore either (not that a 40 yo man has any business in a store like that, but the point is...) because of the shirt with the upside down US flag on it they chose to carry.

It wasn't because there was some mass movement to boycott them.... it's just my beliefs.

I will also never watch a Jane Fonda movie ever.

good for you... unfortunately, I chose a career I can't do that. My brother is as crude as anyone because he doesn't have a job that is dependant on political correctness. I won't complain, because I knew it going into my profession.

    good for you.

You don't seem to understand what discrimination means.

If that counts as a boycott, I also never watch Jane Fonda movies along with almost every retired military guy I know. I don't buy Ben and Jerry's ice cream because it costs more than Mayfield or other brands that are just as good. I do not know if I own any Apple products or not.

For the longest time I had a bumper sticker on the back of my truck, it said, "Hey Jane, Call home 1-800-Hanoi

That's exactly how I am. I don't throw a childish hissy fit over something that I don't agree with. If it's bad bad enough, I just don't put any money towards it.

    Is this not the definition?

the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.

Yeah, you can do what you want. And since I'm a Christian, let me know what flight company is yours so I can use one that tolerates Christians because I don't care enough to cry about it.

Mean ol Christians... How many times have you been beheaded by one?

Hey I have an idea... Get on a plane and tell them all you're gay. See how many are "homophobic" and scurry off the plane, I betcha nobody does, because nobody cares, and because nothing happened to you.

so both you and I say it's always been like that on our flights, I think that says a lot

we will see what the airline says in defense, if they give a reason for treating her different, then no proof is needed they treated her different

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...-flight-because-she-might-use-it-as-a-weapon/

"Ahmad, who is Muslim and wears a headscarf, asked for an unopened can of diet coke “for hygienic reasons,” she wrote in an angry Facebook post from the air. She says the flight attendant denied her request, then proceeded to bring an unopened can of beer to the man sitting next to her."

I am one of those that just opens a pop and drinks, but I have one family member that has to thoroughly wipe the top before opening (she is a Christian), so I know some people are like that, these people often believe when it's their time it's their time... but sure try hard to extend their time anyways :)

    Politician?

It seems to me that if your profession doesn't readily accept particular ideas because they are not popular in the court of public opinion, then whatever your profession is, you can't be trusted to speak the truth.

It only makes sense to open them before serving. An unopened carbonated beverage plus turbulence in extremely close vicinity with laptops, tablets, and people, along with trying to open and then pour their own drink from a full can into one of those little plastic cups isn't a good combination.

then why did they give the beer unopened to the person sitting next to her?

I have no issue if the rules are consistent for all passengers
