Too much to expect the police to turf out undesirables.

You might be right. We'll have to wait for Salmond to hold the referendum before we'll know for sure. If Scotland wants to control its own destiny, Scots need to vote for full separation. If Scotland votes for Devo Max, the rest of the UK should have a referendum on the continuation of the UK.

What do you think of Salmond's plan to continue using sterling?

Ever been to California? That's where I live. Lots of British tourists have had their days ruined by me after I detect one of the accents of the British. I insist that they apologize for the sins of their ancestors. They are totally freaked out by the experience.

To turf out undesirables, one has to recognise undesirables.

To drop ones trousers and dump in Winchester would be considered amusing by the police, especially after they examined the evidence and noticed defecated stars and stripes.

    Abbey alley?

It's well known for American produced all dressed e-coli fried hamburgers, served up by indigents trying to make a living off tourists on the ever falling value of the US dollar.

When the bobbies saw the size of the flagpole their first reaction was to salute.

Unnecessary. The biggest banger is for sale just down the road, via The Mall.

You aren't having a conversation with the Scots. They didn't ask you a question. I did.

    Laddy,

What was the name of the last pitched battle fought on British soil?

    The French invasion of Fishguard.

During their two days on British soil the French soldiers must have shaken in their boots at mention of name of "Jemima Fawr" (Jemima the Great). The 47-year-old Jemima Nicholas was the wife of a Fishguard cobbler. When she heard of the invasion, she marched out to Llanwnda, pitchfork in hand and rounded up 12 Frenchmen. She brought them into town and promptly left to look for some more. - Men of Harlech meet your match!

The Battle of Culloden. Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Highlanders and their allies against the ******* British. After the British victory the redcoats methodically moved among the wounded Scots and bayoneted them.

By the way...I like the Men of Harlech:

It isn't strange however that they don't like you.

It was the day the Establishment , led by Saint Margaret , finally smashed the Trade Unions and stopped this country being strangled .

This referendum will be crucial, not only for the uk but for the entire Europe. If the scotland will obtain the indipendence, it could give impetus to the indipendendece pretensions in many other European states like Spain, Italy, France.
I, as sardinian nationalist, hope that the scottish people show us the way.

I am completely relaxed by any outcome .
I have a feeling it works in cycles .
Initially , the smaller "tribe" want to move in with the bigger one for consolidation in poor times and possibly for reasons of economy etc .
After a few generations , the wish for the "good old days" of independence come flooding in on waves of imagined nostalgia and the little tribe fancies another period of independence .
And so it carries on , with the smaller tribe switching in line with changed circumstances .
I think its nice to see tribal independence and all that can go with it , providing the smaller tribe does not continue to economically take more than its " fair share" when it whines about its difficulties --- as Scotland has done --- it was basically a scrap heap with some nice scenery in parts until the good English people dragged it into the twentieth century .
But let the young flex their muscles .
