Yep, some idIot that passes on the right side in the grass thinking he is brilliant makes my blood boil. You always hope there is a cop ahead that gives him a ticket. I have seen our FHP do it but usually, they have a reason. Unlike the clown that just wants to beat everyone who is in the same boat as him. Selfish attitude.

OK ... Then ask Miss Smarty if there's a traffic stoppage on the
way Home from work.I bet the answer is a complete reversal.

You are kidding right? When you drive a busy highway there are very few days someone is not being rude on the highway. The evenings are no exception, everyone is in a rush to get home.

That's how I feel about traffic jams.I go into a small onset of
a panic attack. What if this one is really a big one.Taking hours.
Tractor Trailer accidents usually take hours, especially if they
jackknife.Becuause that requires a special Tractor wrecker
and finding a place to stick it.Or haul off.
    I have Phobias,I do.Another phobia is catching a cold.But I usually
handle well after the panic subsides.I was in the hospital as a young
kid many times.Stuff like having my stomach pumper { I swallowed some
coins } and then a Broken arm and having my adenoids taken out.
    Then a hernia operation.I wondered why the Father { Pastor of our Parish }
showed up to greet me.I was scheduled for a spinal tap.
The worst part was going under with the old method.A cup over the mouth
with a gauze and drops of ether applied.Count from 100 backwards, said the
    doc.When I became conscious I remember I couldn't see but I could hear
    what was going on.

Well Pardon me all over the place.I don't like being regimented.
I dint like it when the Nuns in Grade School applied and surely not
as a grown adult treated like a child being told to stop for the
    *Traffic Guard.As in the movie - Affliction - { 1996 }
I was a traffic guard in grade school, also_Only during lunch.
    Never on the bus.

    * A few years ago { maybe 7 or so } I was going thru a familiar neighbor
as the busses started filling up with students.I watched in utter amazement as
a female Traffic guard who held a big STOP sign and wouldn't budge.
She kept it up for a good 15-20 minutes.I was real close to getting out of my car and giving her a piece of my mind. But I studied her and made sure to remember that
face.Sure enough some time later { about a year or so } this Female was up to it
again.Only the busses were all set to go.Maybe a 7 minute wait.

Calm down no need to panic it is the afternoon, night is on it's way. School is out by the way so you don't have to worry about the traffic guard.
    OBTW you are pardoned.

There is no cure for the common cold.Or the flu once you get it.
You just have to get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
Plus get some food down.Chicken Noodle soup and a light sandwich.
Zicam is no different than what a do on a regular basis.
Using Q-tips.I always have a small bottle on hand.Mixed with a
50/50 split of cheap vodka and bottled water.I flush my nose every
once and a while. Can also use or yer hands after coming in contact with
stuff that might be handled by a sick person.I also use it for a daily
cleaner as far as kitchen utensils.
From what I can tell Zicam is basically the same kind of thing
only stronger and can cause one to loose their sense of smell
and taste. That's what a cold does. You lose a sense of smell and taste.
I tried something like Zicam once and it ruined my sense of taste for a
    entire day.

By the way ... not to detract but what with this new fangled weather
term Cyclone Bomb. It's a highly aggressive Nor'easter that is what's
termed a Blizzard.I was involved in a Blizzard off Lake Erie in early APRIL.
It was spooky and devastating. It was in the early 80's and I was off on
vacation to my Family's Summer Home right on Lake Erie.
I went off to cool my jets and basically Party Hardy ... all by my lonesome.
Because I was used to be around buddies and working around people
as a McDonald Mngr. for a few years. There was a time when I never had
as much as an uninterrupted evening after work.
So I made sure to bring up a nice supple of Party supplies { Think
Hunter Thompson } and some booze.I was into beer then but also stuff
like Port wine. But Beer doesn't travel. And beer and port do not mix.
So I took along and put in a cooler in a place that won't get too shook up a
couple bottles of really good Champagne.
The local supermarket was the problem. They had the best homemade
pizzas ready to be baked. But I had worked there as a 14 yr.old
for 2 summers. The place was run by an older sister and brother team
of Italians from the old country. The kind that spend most of their days
at work.Sure enough Miss Consolo was in there the early evening I stopped
in to pick up a couple medium Pizzas.
I don't know if it was the next day or day after that that huge Blizzard
blew-in from Chicago. My mom and pop called on the day of the storm at around
4-5 pm warning of a strong storm coming off lake Erie.At around 7'ish
I called back to let them know it's here alright. And that the small tree in the backyard
    probably won't make it.
    More to follow :

according to the hollywood movie 'geostorm', they said the government is making florida freeze to make people believe in the fairy tale of ice ages.

i don't believe a thing hollywood says, drill baby drill.

Downtown Louisville had a century old water main bust a couple weeks
ago.The water level on some side roads reached 8 feet high.
I remember about 12 years ago the same thing happened as I went
in to downtown Louisville for my bi-weekly shopping.
There was mud everywhere.Coating the sides of stores and lining
the streets for a good mile.

So as night entered I could not wait any longer.I had to call back
my parents with the bad news. This was around 10'oclock.The prize tree
in the back yard that my old man built a brick enclosure since it was about
8 feet from the retaining wall.We had problems with a retaining wall
before. The summer house is right off the beach. But Lake Erie is the choppiest
of the Great Lakes because it's the shallowest. That retaining wall was about
ready to cave and that tree was taking a pounding with all the freezing water
from the lake after pummeling into the Break wall. The Blizzard was so
strong the winds were carrying the water from lake Erie into the break wall
and then over the break wall and onto the back porch { about 10-15 yards from the
enclosed porch.} I could not see out of the large sliding glass door due to the
water carrying along earth from the backyard. So I had to go to my Mom's Bedroom
and look at from a side view.I eventually bundled up and went outside as the
flood lights helped somewhat.I couldn't believe what I saw.We had lost the
break wall and now the backyard was disappearing.I gauged the wave action to
be immense.I was thinking 30 ft. or better swells. The local paper a couple days
after said about the same.I ended up sleeping in the very front bedroom since
I felt the house could have been taken away with the wave action.Even though
the backyard was elevated a good 6-7 feet above the beach level.
I was most worried about our one neighbor.Their house was very close to
the retaining wall and I could see { just barely } that they had lost their entire
backyard. To this day I don't know how that house withstood the torrent.

My annual Christmas present from my wife is a Netflix streaming and DVD subscription. I love it! Although I order all the good new movies for us, I also order older ones such as the 1968 classic I watched tonight: Steve McQueen's "Bullitt". I'd ordered it upon seeing an article sometime back about the classic 10+ minute muscle car chase through the streets of San Francisco but watching it caused me to reflect upon several things about how times have changed, but mostly how they have not.

In one scene, the sleezy politician, in an subtle act of coercion, mentions to Bullitt's captain mentioned how tough it is to raise kids "these days" and how expensive putting them through college can be.

Another scene was the medical technology. From the ride in the ambulance after the initial shooting to the operations in the hospital the differences between then and now seem like much more than a lifetime's worth. Sure, it's Hollywood, but even so, I remember those days. It doesn't seem like that long ago, but the change is tremendous.

Another scene had the detectives going through the victim's luggage when they found the married couple each had about $2000 worth of traveler's checks. McQueen remarks how they were "loaded" with cash. While $2000 isn't pocket change, going on vacation with that much is high, but not extraordinary....until running it though the CPI Inflation Calculator where it comes out as almost $15K each.

Seeing this movie again was very enjoyable, but it was also fun to see what has changed and what has not.
