So after 100 thousand Americans have died, we know whose fault all of this is.

I am soooo glad you brought up that article. Let's see what that "U.S. official you give so much credibility to said. This is how your quote continues.

“Donald Trump may not have been expecting this, but a lot of other people in the government were — they just couldn’t get him to do anything about it,” this official said. “The system was blinking red.”

    ....

"Azar couldn’t get through to Trump to speak with him about the virus until Jan. 18, according to two senior administration officials. When he reached Trump by phone, the president interjected to ask about vaping and when flavored vaping products would be back on the market, the senior administration officials said."

    ...

On Jan. 27, White House aides huddled with then-acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney in his office, trying to get senior officials to pay more attention to the virus, according to people briefed on the meeting. Joe Grogan, the head of the White House Domestic Policy Council, argued that the administration needed to take the virus seriously or it could cost the president his reelection, and that dealing with the virus was likely to dominate life in the United States for many months.

Mulvaney then began convening more regular meetings. In early briefings, however, officials said Trump was dismissive because he did not believe that the virus had spread widely throughout the United States.
As for the House Intelligence Committee

Robert Kadlec, the assistant secretary for preparedness and response — who was joined by intelligence officials, including from the CIA — told committee members that the virus posed a “serious” threat, one of those officials said.

Kadlec didn’t provide specific recommendations, but he said that to get ahead of the virus and blunt its effects, Americans would need to take actions that could disrupt their daily lives, the official said. “It was very alarming.”

The House Intelligence Committee does not have a Health Secretary or a CDC to explain epidemics to them. They have no power to do anything. They are not even allowed to speak to anybody outside the Intelligence Committee about the content of the briefings received.

    But Trump

Trump’s insistence on the contrary seemed to rest in his relationship with China’s President Xi Jingping, whom Trump believed was providing him with reliable information about how the virus was spreading in China, despite reports from intelligence agencies that Chinese officials were not being candid about the true scale of the crisis.

Trump was relying on Xi, instead of his own intelligence agencies, for information about the virus!!!!!!!

Some of Trump’s advisers told him that Beijing was not providing accurate numbers of people who were infected or who had died, according to administration officials. Rather than press China to be more forthcoming, Trump publicly praised its response.
And guess what Trump was worried about, when he was urged by the CDC to stop listening to China and start acting!

On Feb. 25, Nancy Messonnier, a senior CDC official, sounded perhaps the most significant public alarm to that point, when she told reporters that the coronavirus was likely to spread within communities in the United States and that disruptions to daily life could be “severe.” Trump called Azar on his way back from a trip to India and complained that Messonnier was scaring the stock markets, according to two senior administration officials.
Of course, in all of this you will choose to believe only what is convenient for you to believe.

The President closed the border two days after WHO got it right. Against the wishes of the Democrats. A week and a half later Pelosi and the Mayors of NY and New Oleans were telling people it wasn't that bad, go out and mingle, Go to China Town, ride the subway and bus. Go watch the parade. NY and New Jersey were sending virus patients from the hospital back to the nursing homes. Was all that Trump's fault?

The only thing that needed to be done was to take care of the sick and bury the dead.

0.03% of the population has died when normally 0.88% die every year, and the vast majority of those deaths were from the sector of society that has a high probability of dying within the year.

It was also blinking red for all of congress to see. No less than what it was for Trump. If it was blinking that bright, they should have been screaming at the White House to take action. But, they were not. That should tell even you, that it was not that apparent. However, out of the hundreds of people that were briefed, you think that only Trump should have been concerned. Not only that, Pelosi, Fauci and WHO was telling everyone it was no problem.

Trump has threatened to stop donating to WHO because of false information they were getting from China instead of investigating the virus themselves

Our intelligent agencies aren't scientist. Trump reacted on the advice of scientist and doctors.

Why is the President of the richest and most powerful nation on Earth waiting for instructions from WHO about what to do and how to handle a crisis that would cost tens of thousands of lives?

Remember when our Presidents were leaders, and not a follower like this one? If you check history books you might be surprised to find that that was the case in our history all the way back and until ... a bit over three years ago....

Nothing! Zero! They had to beg him to take action because he only believed what Xi told him. And he is still doing nothing.

Unless you call signing orders that somebody else wrote for him and threatened to resign if he didn't sign them....

Of course! The mishandling of this virus was Obama's fault, the CDC's fault, China's fault, the WHO's fault, Democrat's fault, .... everybody's fault except Trump. After all ... who would expect an incompetent moron to do the job of a real President, right?

Again (because you refused to read my post): the Intelligence Committee does not have epidemiologists in their staff. the Intelligence Committee does not have the power to do absolutely anything about a pandemic. The Intelligence Committee cannot even so much as comment with anybody outside of the committee on the intelligence briefings they receive.

That's the last time I explain the same thing to you. I have wasted more time with you than you deserved.

In other words, you are claiming that there was no one on Trump's staff qualified to explain it to Trump that it was potentially a problem and Trump was supposed to figure that out by himself.

That was what the WHO and Fauci are supposed to do. Both these so called experts said it was not a problem.

You expect the President to act after being told the virus can't be spread to humans. That came from The World Health Organization. Then Dr. Fauci says a week later that the virus is no worse than the flue? He is the President and like all Presidents, they listen to the experts and act mostly on their advice. He did it in spite of Democratic opposition that tried to stop him. But I know how badly the Left want to make Trump out the bad guy so they can go into the Nov. election and say it's all Trump's fault. They failed to pin him on everything else. Well it just doesn't fly. Trump acted decisively when he had to and Democratic mayors have complimented him for it.

There was nobody qualified in Trump's chair to understand what was being explained to him by... everybody. As the summary of the article that you brought up shows.

I'm done. You brought up the article. I assume you read it. If you didn't understand it, that's a different problem. But not mine.

Golem you want to say Democrats didn't have the same information Trump had and that isn't true. When WHO finally came out with the truth. Trump was trying to close the border and Republicans were begging DEMOCRATS not to prevent them from doing it.

I understood the article. However, the article does not explain why Trump was supposed to be concerned about the virus when none of the so called experts were concerned. In fact, the so called experts were saying no problem. But, you believe, or at least claim to believe, that Trump should have acted contrary to the experts.

The point of the article was to show that congress had access to the same information Trump was. A fact that you denied.

Why do you think Trump has threatened to stop donating to WHO? It was instead of checking it out, WHO took China;s word that it couldn't be spread to humans. I believe that was on Jan 14th

You cannot claim that Trump did not know what was going on at the beginning of March. If at that point he would have alerted everybody, instead of lying, and states had started shutting down by the second week of March, at least 30 thousand lives could have been save.

Trump's incompetence would not allow this. Trump lied... people died!

Please don't embarrass yourself. There not being human-to-human transmission is not "it doesn't spread to humans". Many epidemics that have killed millions of people don't have human to human transmission. Like Malaria!

In any case, that claim by the Chinese was debunked as soon as the Covid-19 genome was released on January 13. That same day the Germans and British started working on a vaccine. The WHO identified four possible treatment options for their members to research. South Korea and many others started working on developing tests How do you explain Trump's inaction after that?

    Not even inaction.... lies!
