The Trump defense for dummies...

Impeachment has nothing to do with what anybody "wants". Nobody wants to impeach a President anymore than anybody "wants" to prosecute a murderer. It has to do with doing their job.

We all want that no President abuses their power in the first place, so we don't have to impeach them. Just like we all want murderers to not kill anybody so we don't have to prosecute them.

 

Can't argue the facts, argue the process.

 

Especially when the defense for withholding documents and preventing witnesses, in the second article is to continue to refuse to release documents and block witnesses. Most people see through the game Trump is trying to play. Most people can see how obedient Congressional Republicans pick party over truth, justice, and the United States of America.

 

The problem with the process is that it started out unfair. Now suddenly the democrats are worried about being fair. The democrats had every opportunity to subpoena who ever they wanted. If someone refused to honor the subpoena, they could have gone to court. That is what the court is for. Now suddenly democrats want fairness. However now the fairness will result in this impeachment going on for months because if one witness is called, it will bring up questions which require another witness.

 

Yes - all of the things on your list go into the category of potential self incrimination - why would any legal team council this ?

I think most people -at least on some level - can sense that kangarooland exists on both sides - unless they have their partisan blinders on - and they don't count. It is the Anti Establishment middle that will decide this election.

Russiagate met the criteria for a "witch hunt" in many ways. People are still running around crying "Putin Putin" - Trump is Putin's puppet.

I use the same standard that Dershowitz used in the Clinton witch hunt - Blue were all gung ho on that standard at that time - they even made a few changes to the process on that basis - to try and prevent the same thing happening in the future.

Unfortunately it didn't work - Russiagate was the same BS - violating the same standard - that Blue used to respect - but no longer does.

 

I no criminal trial does the defense have a "vote" on what witnesses the defense brings in. Your statement underlines how dishonest this Senate would be if they don't allow the defense to present it's case.

 

The process is never "fair" for the guilty.

 

Most people are aware Trump colluded with Russians and continues to do so. Even most Republicans know. As long as the collusion helps them, so what?

 

Corruption has been a big problem in Ukraine and it looked to Trump after Biden threatened to hold up aid to Ukraine unless the man investigating the company that Biden's Son worked for is fired to help his Son hold on to his $88,000.00 a month no work job, that the Bidens might be part of that corruption. He had every right to do so with a prior agreement made by Clinton and Ukraine. Not only a right, but a duty to look into it. Just because Biden is also running for President, doesn't make him immune from investigation. If he did nothing wrong he had nothing to worry about. Trump didn't threaten the President of Ukraine, or hold up money marked for them longer then he was legally obligated to send it. He asked him to do what he ran on, fight corruption.

 

That Biden has done anything illegal here has been debunked ad nauseam. Weird that some are still shoveling it. And the very idea that Trump is the champion and savior of non-corruption is really hysterically funny.

Impeachment effectively means half the House plus 2/3rds of the Senate have the unqualified, unreviewable power to remove the President. If that number of representatives don't want to vote to convict that's the end of that.

Under the agreement with Iran, they could resume their quest for nuclear weapons after ten years which is already half over.

Less safe? The last thing Obama said to Trump is that N. Korea would be the biggest problem he would face coming into office. N.Korea is not threatening us or our Allies. Not shooting missiles over them. Gave us our Korean war dead back. Realeased four political prisoners. NATO is much stronger than it was after Trump got them to put in 100 billion dollars of more weapons.
