Yep. I could apply for automatic german citizenship. Interestingly I also qualify for "aliyah" to Israel. And I could easily become a dual citizen of the UK which would (depending on the current crisis) also enable EU citizenship. But I'm more than happy to be a Canadian.

 

And I am disgusted at people who cannot understand why they “drag their children across deserts for a better life and to escape violence“ I am disgusted by people who think they do it for the “sympathy of Americans” . You are in denial if you don't believe cartels put a backpack full of drugs on an illegal and say good luck. They would obviously be well coached on a route with water caches along the way and a predetermined pickup spot. If you want to save lives build the wall.

And I repeat my question: Why would it be an undesirable thing?

In any case, they do have the right to apply for asylum. As does anybody from any country. It's impossible to have a reasonable discussion with somebody who doesn't understand these basic facts.

I'm sorry. But this paragraph distills ignorance. Where in the world did you get the idea that Mexico hasn't taken refugees? But they are an underdeveloped nation. They can only deal with so many. And yes... some of them are "chased" all the way from their country to the U.S. boarder. By "chase" I don't mean that somebody is running behind them. They don't have to. A simple phone call can get them killed.
