The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued hurricane watch and tropical storm warnings for Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

From your local Channel 8 Accuweather Weather Girl:

Yes Mr. President.... Wow!.....tropical storms roll around pretty much every year. The season officially began on June 1, 2019, and will end on November 30, 2019..... If you didn't have your head up your ass, you might know this.... It's filed under the category most of us know as 'Common Knowledge'. So, unless you start nuking these suckers, it's unlikely hurricanes will ever end...

Also, best of luck with this storm, PR.... fingers crossed you won't have a huge disaster this time (Another Trump visit)...

Honestly this is the first I heard about this storm headed for PR.....so I guess it's safe to say it wasn't common knowledge.

I do pray for the PR people...one thing after another it seems

You would think(and hope) that a Caribbean island that is in the middle of a path for hurricanes, would have a general plan on how to deal with hurricane

The only disaster was the incompetent, corrupt way PR handled it last time. Before the last hurricane they were on the verge of bankruptcy, with a failing power grid. There's a reason my grandparents left there 100 years ago.

They do have a plan, stick their hands out for Billions of US tax dollars. $16 billion for an island with a population of 2,921,935. There must be some overhead somewhere.

This thread just shows some people will get outraged about anything.

There is literally no way Trump could have approached this which would have pleased the haters.

If he'd ignored it? He either hates PR or he's an ignoramus who isn't keeping up with the nation's weather.

If he'd said "hopes and prayers"? Well, the left goes ape sh*t over that one, so....

If he'd said he was sending a gazillion dollars in advance for preparations? It would have been too much, not enough, or too little too late, or "Trump buying votes" or who the hell knows what else....

Or he could have been brutally honest: Another big storm headed for Puerto Rico. I hope they're prepared, but based on their history of incompetence and corruption I bet they're not! But we sent them billions of dollars in aid anyhow! Good luck PR, wish I could trade you for Greenland! < lefties would be dropping dead left and right from outrage overload.

It's early yet, but I understand that Dorian is expected to be one of those wet hurricanes... at least from the standpoint of water...

The "island" thing still cracks me up because I can still remember one of our resident lefties here who didn't realize Puerto Rico was an island.

Yes, but what does that have to do with this tread except to throw fecal matter into the wind?

As I've mention many times on this board, I lived in PR for 4 years and each year they get a bunch of hurricane warnings only to have them turn away and never hit the island. When Hurricane Hugo was barrelling towards PR everyone thought it was just another hurricane that would turn away at the last minute, except it did not and the island took a beating.

They couldn't even hardly sort out who would be their governor ---- after the governor resigned, the next in line had already resigned, and the third in line didn't want the job..... Talk about a clown show. But hey, they've got billions and billions of tax money now to fund more corruption "hurricane relief", and everyone on this board has figured out Puerto Rico is an island, so it's all good ;)

He obviously meant that tropical storms and hurricanes in the Caribian area from late Spring until a time in the fall. Your not knowing neither disputes nor confirms the existence of common knowledge.

"From late spring" and "until a time in the fall"? I'm glad you could be so specific on thread about this exact topic, ROFL, is this Exhibit A of "common knowledge"?

(Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30th, FYI.)

For what it's worth, there is NOTHING in that Trump tweet to indicate he is unaware of "when" hurricane season is. Mar-a-Lago is in Florida for heaven's sake, in case anyone has forgotten. We Florida folks tend to remember things like hurricane season ;)
