Don't say cat 5 hurricane, because he will then think hurricanes are only after your pets....

I only said they didn't get enough aid.

You just like to troll and not discuss.

Let me guess, you are a troll.

If you really looked at the US budget in detail once, you'd know how money is spent for all things in states.

I have news for you, White people in my area don't like your kind, too. Watch how fast the Republican Party is abandoned.

I've reviewed the Republicans since their founding. They sure slipped into corruption fast after Lincoln was assassinated. The Republicans are corrupt to the bone and there is nothing good about them. The party needs to be buried next to the Whigs.

The poor need to "leave" Florida? Because you don't want them to receive FEMA aid when we're hit with a hurricane? Because that's what we've been talking about ---- federal natural disaster aid, and how the poor would be more likely to suffer if you cut it off.... (Where do you suggest Florida sends our poor, out of curiosity?)

And what about the poor in Puerto Rico, do you feel the same about them? Should they just "leave"?

Ironically enough, many of Puerto Rico's poor ended up in Florida following the hurricane. What about those poor people? Should they "leave" Florida too?

One bottle of water may not cost much ---- but the money for purchase, and the logistics of delivery, adds up when we are talking about a wasted "stockpile of bottled water" which "[stretched] down an unused runway in Ceiba. Case after case, pallet piled upon pallet, blue tarps and plastic glinting in the sun." https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/12/us/puerto-rico-bottled-water-dump-weir/index.html

I work hard for the money I use to pay taxes. I don't want to see my hard earned tax dollars wasted on utter incompetence and corruption.

I, for one, am glad Trump is paying attention to the corruption and incompetence in Puerto Rico before handing them a blank check.

The corruption and incompetence in Puerto Rico isn't even remotely Trump's fault. It was that way before Trump became President, and it will probably remain that way long after he is gone. Do you have any idea for how long PR has been dealing with corruption, a faulty electric grid, and mismanaged funding problems, among other things? Lonnnggg before Trump became POTUS.

The only one repeatedly harping on "skin color" in this thread is you.

I don't believe a single other poster here has said anything derogatory based on skin color.

Your race baiting and trolling is getting old.

sorry Dubya, but its time to put you on Ignore, 90% of your posts are insults and criticisms of pretty much everything, and I don't have room for that much misery and negativity in my life. No need to respond, I won't see it.

yip lol, I had to let him go, (should have done it yesterday or the day before but I try to be patient) but some posters are far too angry and depressing, I have better things to do than read that much bs clogging up the internet.

the only good news that has come out of this storm is that about 15 million people are significantly more prepared today than they were a week ago, so if another storm comes along this season, we'll be better able to withstand any complications that result. I'll be curious to see the 3rd Q earnings for home depot and lowes, they must have cleaned up!

I personally don't own a generator but maybe after november i'll shop around on Craigslist for one that is still in box, but with a $300 discount, when I stopped by home depot on Friday I saw pallets of them and several people had them in their carts.

I'm still fascianted with the storm and its track, It will be a small miracle if it misses the us mainland completely, but OMG the bahama's, its terrible! at least we'll be able to focus on helping them, we're close and we have the resources lined up already anyway, probably makes sense to borrow some of the stockpiles from PR and just ferry them over :)

If you have natural gas (you know, that stiff liberals hate cause it comes from fracking) consider converting the generator to run on that

Then you wont have to worry about fuel for a few weeks

no NG going into the home, i'll stick with gas and the extra fuel tanks I own, actually what i'd prefer is a nice Honda inverter but honestly I've never bothered with them in the past because w/o AC my wife isn't going to hang out at home anyway. So I could probably just deal with a small unit that keeps the frig running and maybe a couple lamps.

Then again, the dam generator will cost more than it would to just replace the stuff in the freezer. 30 years in SW florida and i've only lost power for a total of 5 days in that time and that was back in 2004 (5 days) also lost it for maybe 6 hours after irma, just long enough to give me incentive to clean out the frig of old salad dressings that were expired anyway.

I learned a neat trick from a client that lost power after irma for 10 days, he bought a 10 pack of solar outdoor lights (cheap) set them outside during the day to charge, used them as lamps at night, worked out quite well and better than burning up a bunch of duracells.

    Not completely accurate...

    SNIP
Nationally, fracking produces two-thirds (67 percent) of the natural gas in the United States, according to the US Energy Information Administration
    ENDSNIP

    https://www.sightline.org/2017/10/30/is-your-natural-gas-actually-fracked/

And then there's the Trump EPA, which won't really have fully satisfied their goals until every human on earth is dead...

I'm heartbroken about the Bahamas. That is one of my homes-away-from-home. I'm getting videos and reports that it is magnitudes worse than the news is reporting. I still have one friend unaccounted for, an old local Bahamian man.... :tears:

It looks like we dodged a bullet in Florida. This will be nothing like what it could have been.

And if Florida is safe, it stands to reason Alabama might be as well... Whew!

Fully agree with that.... But unchecked population growth is another thread for another day....

One could argue that natural "disasters" are natures way of trying to shed some population.... They used to work better, but humans have solved most of them...

Its literally the worst case scenario for them, I can't imagine what they've been through (still going through)
