So rich people don’t need it, so again...HOW does is designed to keep you poor.

You made the statement, or better yet, regurgitated some right wing talking point that is BS that you cant defend now right ?

Oh FFS. It’s a safety net program. And without it, medical costs in this country would be ridiculously higher than they are today.

This post is yet more proof that many on this board are nothing but parrots (which we already knew) who have no idea what they are even debating. But hey, some right winger told you poor people are causing you pain, problem, and are stealing your taxes, so hey...why not.

I love the left's self serving 'would be' proclamations that have no basis in fact whatsoever.

If massive corrupt welfare schemes saved money, Venezuelans would be living the American Dream.

It blocks the monopolization of the White House by a few heavily populated urban areas and states, and yes it works as it was designed to work.

LOL - Not only does that have nothing to do with presidential elections and the Electoral College, it doesn't make any sense.

Yet, there are people living in rural areas who are receiving food assistance. So much for your "fact".

A claim so ludicrous it is on par with Holocaust denial, 9/11 Troofer conspiracies, etc.

Not only do we have socialists in America, we have communists, anarcho-marxists and the rest of the lunatic Leftist fringe.

I've personally met socialists at ANSWER Coalition demonstrations and elsewhere, but here are a few prominent names and organizations: 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democratic congresswoman Rashida Tiaib and her fellow socialists in the Democratic Socialists of America, the members of the Socialist Party USA and other groups/parties, such as the Workers World Party and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, et al.

Again, untrue, but even if it was it would be meaningless given how many socialists masquerade as "progressives". Because of this the polling has always been inaccurate and always will be inaccurate. However, Bernie Sanders' run for president and the election of other socialists to congress has encouraged more and more socialists to come out of the closet and be honest about who and what they are. As a writer for the Communist Party USA observed:

    How liberating!

We are a large nation with a diversity of lifestyles. Of course the goal is to assimilate into one culture. Unfortunately we don't and that seems to be increasingly the case.
A really strong Central government seems to look after the interests of large population centers (because of course that is where the vote is) and run rough shod over the rest (which occupies and maintains a vast majority of the land mass), The Founders knew and understood that reality as it had been exemplified throughout Europe.

Local governments which are much closer to the people, work better with one man one vote because the accountability is more intense. Just a minor example..... "We don't need those from the dense population pf the District of Columbia telling us how to manage our forests in Arizona 1400 + miles away".

A simple analogy that I have said before...... "A pure Democracy in a large Central Government is like two wolves and a sheep taking a vote as to what's for dinner". The sheep is one third of the economy yet could be taken advantage of to it's extinction. Mob rule is a part of human nature and the Founders new it must be restrained. The Electoral college is part of that restraint. In fact, the beauty of our Constitution is it's primary function is to put restraints on government. Only those with a true study of human nature realize that. Fortunately our Founders did.

Donald Trump is not infallible. Life is a learning process. A lot is learned after assuming the role of Potus. I judge him not on his every word, but on the decisions he's made and the actions h has taken. I think the vast majority has benefited from his Presidency. In the previous administration I saw a vast number of businesses completely frightened by the regulation and restraints put on them by government. The result was a weakened economy and work going overseas.

I'm fairly well off despite some bad choices. I continue to make them from time to time. I've also no doubt that plenty of people who have made solid choices are not so lucky. Circumstance is a funny thing. And life is short.

Being poor enough to qualify for it is indeed a sh*tty way to live.

    Agreed.

Unfortunately, the people that make these choices often believe they can't do better.

People that sell their futures, and their souls for welfare are to be pitied.

Those who take their souls should be ashamed.

Those that try to take my soul should think again.

Yes they do. I helps with handicapped children, and their daily needs, even for upper middle class who have private insurance. Please read up on what medicade and medicare actually do.

Stop with the “where’s the incentive to work”my Thats right wing BS and a complete cop out. People don’t stop working because they can get Medicare. That’s beyond ridiculous. Stop with the right wing talking points that are designed to do nothing more than insinuate that some “poor person” is stealing your taxes. It’s beyond disingenuous to the debate

Wait. How are we at historic low unemployment numbers if no one is working?

Really ? You made the causation, and then cant back it up and then claim my repbutaal has no basis in fact. IF you cant prove your accusation, then you have no basis to claim the rebuttal factless.........You first have to prove your accusation....thats the way this works.

Ahhh, the “Venezuela defense”......Venezuela IS a corrupt system. Kinda like the “capitalist” one we have here......hmmmmmm

Well Medicare is for old people....as far as Medicaid helping upper middle class families...well that's part of the problem if true.

I was never talking about Medicare.

So what your saying is that your debating something that you don't know anything about

Medicaid can be means tested for benefits, but is not the only way to qualify. And the same for Medicare. Medicare is not only for old people. So please explain how you can debate something that you don't know about ?

Both Obama & Pelosi are or have been public servants, and that carries with it some degree of personal danger. There are always individuals out there who are capable of murder for crazy reasons. Building a wall to protect oneself and one's family from physical harm is different from building a wall along a national border to close the flow of trade, culture, friendship, and everything else. Mexico has not only been a good neighbor, considering how she's been treated by us back in history. And she's been a strong partner in trade--which we should appreciate rather than attack. We have a treaty to furnish a certain quantity of Colorado River water flow to Mexico near the Gulf of California, but we don't keep our commitment. We pretend we're perfect while we harass Mexico for its faults. We need to BE a good neighbor before we can expect others to be good neighbors toward us. Building a wall is a symbol of our failure to do that.

Tell that to California, because they found Socislism was unaffordable.
