I read he wants almost 5 T ??
Time to slash the military by 30 percent

How about we get rid of a few of those other 40 odd federal departments first. Most of which we did completely without until the 1940s.

The VAST majority of the Defense budget goes to CORPORATE America and boosts stock market prices, making the already filthy rich even filthier and richer which is no doubt Dirty Donalds objective.

 

The military was in bad shape by the time the Obama administration had ended. Nearly half the military organizations were no longer combat ready. China and Russia are building up their military and you want to reduce ours?

 

Completely wrong. The majority of the U.S. defense budget goes to personnel costs and operations.

Reducing the military by 30% is not doable. In fact it needs to rise dramatically as well as expanding the size of the active duty military to prepare the U.S. for the next major war.

The proposed FY 20121 budget they are working on now is flat with no increase for inflation. It includes upgrades to nuclear weapons because the Russians and Chinese are increasing their nuclear capability and ours have had little maintenance of the past few years. There is a reduction in budget for maintenance of legacy aircraft such as the A-10 and B-52. Both are heavily used aircraft.

 

Agreed. Heres the reason:
The entire global marketplace is based on debt. Specifically- moving that debt around in the gamble that when (not if) the bubble bursts, we'll be holding the resources and our opponents will be holding the debt. This debt vs resources gamble is basically the new global superweapon, for whoever is holding the debt when the weapon goes off will lose big. Credit/debt is only valuable when theres a system to coerce collection. When that system fails, the value is in the resources. Trump is essentially gambling that the system is is likely to fail, and building up our resources in preparation for it.

Its a dangerous game, to be sure. But we've been playing it for more than hundred years and theres no stopping now. Our only option at this point is to play to win.

 

It won't be that way forever and you know it.

 

Actually our military is still weaker than it needs to be in numerous areas. But even if it was 100 percent as you claim you still have to spend the funds to maintain it at that level.

We could cut the military budget by 50%, recall every troop we have occupying (illegally) numerous countries and have them do what they are actually constitutionally mandated to do, which is protect the United States from invasion, and not install dictators of choice as we've been doing for the past 60 years, and we would still be the most powerful military on earth.

Our military and defense department personnel costs alone are higher than any other country in the worlds spending on defense period. And that does not include a dime of the almost half the defense budget which goes to defense corporate contractors.

 

The amazing thing is that he did slash military programs... and still managed to overspend.

We spend almost 4 times as much as the next closest country behind us. If we cut our budget in half we are still the most powerful military on earth.

 

it's what the constitution requires. No country we currently occupy is capable of a land, sea or air invasion of the US mainland.
