If you live In CA and find a job opening in NY, you just hop on the plane for the interview. You get the job, you move and the family, just like that.
If you live in the EU, you can do the same, just like that. Move with out restrictions, as we do in the US.
In the US we are not Californians or New Yorker or Texans, we are US Citizens.
Same in the EU, you are a EU Citizens, you have the same freedom of movement as you have in the US. What is bad about that.
Do you want to break up the US into 50 countries, because that is what you are so happy about right now ?

 

Obviously the Brits don't want to be just a state in Europe? By your logic the US should just band together with Canada and Mexico and become one big united 'country' with no borders.

 

The voters have spoken and elections have consequences...
