AJ the leftists thought they were gonna win but instead they got blown out.

Its certainly a setback for globalism (like when Hillary lost).

I think its good news. Great even.

Well, I'd guessed we were free to discuss issues of global interest and import beyond our own national borders. But I'm perfectly fine with sticking to discussing US issues so long as you yourself keep to Aussie ones. Deal?

Why would AJ side against the voting citizens of the UK?

No deal. This is an International Forum. Have a look at the Sub-Forum Titles. Go talk to Management if you don't believe me. :)

Ima be honest here.. I haven't a clue what Brexit is :( For the longest time I figured it was what we all went to Denny's for after the bars closed.. I usually have a short stack, two eggs straight up and glass of ice water ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯

I'm just sayin' perhaps you need to talk to Bush Lawyer. He says we shouldn't get excited about stuff that doesn't relate to the US. But Bush Lawyer says that this is an international forum and that means we CAN get excited about stuff happening outside our own borders. Talk to him, then get back to us as to which one of you is wrong.

Brexit is the sole issue this election was fought over....the ONLY issue. Thus, Boris was bound to win. I am no expert on Brexit either, but basically it means the UK is no longer part of the EU. I am not up to date on all the consequences of that.

Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland didn't go the same way on Brexit. So if the UK can't sort out a way to have a boarder between them and the EU then a hard border will go up

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...d-reawaken-northern-irelands-troubles/584338/

Sure, they will be fine, eventually. But it's not gonna be painless in the short term. And potentially the medium term.

    Big deal.

    Everybody saw it coming.

    Not surprising in the least.

With all of this (apparent) "anti-globalism" trend, I am surprised that the Tories were held under 400 seats.

People are already spinning it as a massive victory for the Anti-Johnson Crowd (seeing that the Tories were held under 400 seats).

Ironically, Obama had given globalism a post death mortem, talking about how the wealth disparity led to the demise of the system for middle class working Americans, and really people around the world. It was one of the few times he actually got it. Too bad he could never actually do anything as President to salvage it.

Over on democrat underground they are pretty blindsided by this.

The "conventional" (leftist) thinking was that the solution to a bold nationalist leader is an unapologetic socialist.

Turns out that wasn't even close to right.

Now they are worried a Sanders or Warren won't win. Good times.

Congrats to Johnson and the Tories.

A Win is a Win is a Win.

This definitely seems to have made the RW Reddit/4chan Trolls work overtime on uber-lame memes.

And, your only "contribution" is more memes?

Anyway, regardless of the "spin", a lot of people saw this result coming.

The bottom line is that Corbyn is extremely unpopular and if Labour would've had a different leader they would've done better.

Many people who voted Labour in the last election voted for the Tories this time, because they hated Corbyn and looked at Boris as the lesser of evils.
