Have we determined how the count is being done?

Until people in hospice care are no longer counted whether they had the virus or not I dont really care about the number. Its as false as the polls.

In my area masks are being worn. Social distancing is taking place. Yet cases are up big time to the best of my knowledge based on anecdotal evidence.

Yet they claim these same policies have reduced influenza significantly. Funny that

Sorry. Also from FL. Desantis can’t FORCE someone to stay open. And most kids are attending school virtually. Any bar can shut down. Any business can **** down. How is he “keeping” anyone open, besides schools? Then again the kids are perfectly safe in the schools, unless you want to show us some numbers of more kids dying from Covid in schools then an average year from the flu for example. Don’t bother. We don’t shut down schools every year for Flu. People just deal with the extremely minimal risk.

Where I work for example, we went back into mostly lockdown like early in the summer. We didn’t need Desantis to give us permission because we decided on our own to shift to a skeleton crew. You know free will and ****.

Personally, I can't wait for Biden to get into office so that this nightmare can stop immediately.

How would ME not going to bars stop the pandemic?

I don't, BTW. But there are tons of idiots who do. They are a danger to others and to the country.

What are you talking about. Why would DeSantis FORCE someone to stay open?

Oh My God! After scientists have tried so hard to explain Covid for all this time. So much effort to educate the public about the pandemic, and there are still people out there who think this is "the flu".

This refusal by a sector of the population to educate themselves, combined with a completely uninterested (and incompetent) President, explains why we have the worst response in the world to this pandemic.

Do you not see how this pandemic is affecting this country? Not only people are dying. The economy is in the worst shape it has been since the previous Republican administration.

And you say "others". In my case... "others" includes people I care for. Family and friends. From your post I assume this is not your case.
    ,
Because I have to work. But your post is one of the strangest I've seen. I have seen others of people who still don't understand how this pandemic works. In your case, it's that... but it's also that you don't even understand how reality works.

What is reality in your case? I have to assume from your question that you don't need to work yet. But, you will if you ever have a family to maintain.

Shutting down the economy didn't help.

Do those people not have the ability to stay home? To wear a mask? A face shield?

In my reality, government isn't my daddy. Something you can't seem to fathom as you bow at the alter of government control.

The hardest core of the progressive left can't fathom a world where true liberty and freedom exist. It's all about control.

Haven't checked today, but as of a couple days ago my city of roughly 45K had 47 deaths and closing in in 1500 cases so far. We probably just passed 1500 based on the daily case rate being around 20-25 a day for the last week or so. Most of our deaths were 70 and 80+ year olds, mostly women, mostly nursing home people. One nursing home in particular was very hard hit. If you had ever been in it, you wouldn't be surprised it spread like wildfire in it. It is an oddly designed building and to get to one wing of it, you have to go through the communal dining room. It always is stuffy and smells of poo no matter where you are in the building because the place just isn't well ventilated and the halls are very narrow. Before this, it had a stellar reputation as a rehab facility though. They just weren't prepared for something like this to spread through those halls.

No idea what you're talking about.

What difference does that make. Do you understand how masks and face shields work?

Yeah yeah... Deep state... I've heard those QAnon conspiracy theories many times. It won't bring back either the economy, or the more than a quarter of a million people who have died because of the irresponsible behavior of some who actually NEED a daddy... and a whooping....

Yes, old people die every year, in droves, as well as the not so old with significant disease. Gee wiz, wouldn't think I'd have to tell a science expert like yourself

YOU said Desantis is somehow making businesses stay open.

“Our idiot governor DeSantis has done nothing but undermine the efforts of mayors.

DeSantis is keeping restaurants, bars, schools, ... open.”

So why don’t you explain why YOU said it? And for the love of science please show how much deadlier Covid is for CHILDREN compared to the flu? You understand I was talking about kids right? DO IT!!’ Show how much deadlier it is? Show the death rate in children between the flu and Covid. NOW!! Is the difference significant and scary enough to shut the country down FOR KIDS!!!’ Again. Kids!!! That’s what I was specifically referring to. DO it!! And Why don’t you show how many kids die from drowning in an average year then look at flu and Covid deaths. It’s called ****ing perspective and clarity!!! Get some. If you believe in science, you should want to understand what’s going on right? But you probably think CHILDREN are dropping like flies from Covid?
Guess who apparently isn’t educated? YOU!! You do NOT understand the science because you refuse to acknowledge it.

Back up your assertions with science and statistics. Covid is dangerous. But the dangers vary wildly. We should mask up. We should take every reasonable precaution we can. But we should NOT destroy the economy and people lives over it by destroying their livelihoods.

The "numbers" are based upon a notoriously unreliable PCR test.

Real science, ethical science, rejects notoriously unreliable tests. Elon Musk demonstrated last week that the PCR test is exactly the same as a coin toss.

The other day there were 200,000 new cases and almost 2000 deaths. Even on "slow" days we get 150,000 new cases and 1,000-1,500 deaths. It seems like the federal government is just hanging out waiting for the vaccine and have given up even the appearance of giving a damn.

The numbers are virtually meaningless because the test that generates those numbers is grossly unreliable.

So, the numbers of positive cases - aren't - skyrocketing.

Yes, Jedi knight Fauci admits that once 35 cycles are run, the results are meaningless.
We run 40 to 45 in every lab in the country.
    Quick everyone, pee your pants

The cases are climbing, but that DOES NOT MEAN that the infections are rising in proportion. That is, cases ARE NOT EQUAL to infections.

The reason is simple: the PCR test is functionally equivalent to a coin toss as to whether or not a person is infected with this stealth virus.
