US sanctions on Riyadh would mean Washington is stabbing itself

We have not policed the world to make the world a better place, we do it to advance our own agenda. I believe any country who is in position to do this, will do it (and have done so in the past). The Brits didn't run their empire to make the world a better place, they did it for themselves, but as a by-product many of their colonies benefited from it. They built roads, railroads, bridges to increase their own profits, but the locals got to use them too. It's an investment. Unfortunately it always gives birth to resentment, because every country would prefer to be free of foreign manipulation.

America has been involved in wars and warfare since 1941. We have not achieved a decisive unambiguous "victory" that actually benefited the USA since 1945.
Unless you count Grenada - but Communist Cuba is still in power and an enemy.

Really? :roflol:. And why did we let the Saudis steal our oil? Instead of standing on the principle of Individual Rights, we pragmatically asked: Can’t we just get along?

Imagine the response if a few months ago Melania's dad was the one run down the garbage disposer.
He had the same status as the journalist.

A pragmatic USG would have liquidated the Saudi regime and kept the oil from the 1950s on.
A tardy pragmatic USG would have allowed Saddam to seize all the Gulf oil fields and then ordered him to supply the US or die fast.

The USG is corrupt, but it is seldom pragmatic. Idealistic government is a fairy tale for the peanut gallery. Efficient government is another fairy tale.

LOL. I’m sorry, the proper moral stance would have been to destory the Saudis. The easy way was the pragmatic way, “Let’s make a deal”.

If the USA is going to impose sanctions on Saudi Arabia let it be because of 9/11, not because of this.

What happens to a foreign national is a problem to be settled by his government and the Saudis, not by us. We have enough problems every day with white cops killing innocent blacks or Latins just about every day. This is a problem that is never settled and distractions such as what happened in that consulate only serves to distract people from our problems.

You can't see it right now, but I'm giving you a round of applause for this statement. We should have cut ties with KSA after 9/11.

Mr Truth: There is one truth your forgetting here, Freedom of the Press. The Saudi prince murdered him for what he wrote. Freedom of the Press is one of the founding principles of America.

Moral compass my ass, they have no morals, period. God-cursed craven and completely disloyal ****s whose word isn't worth a turd in the toilet and whose friendship is completely one way.

Khassogi(sp) wasn't an American citizen, he was more, he was our man in Riyadh, an old Saudi hand, a person dug in deep to the local culture who knew everybody and everything including where all the bodies were buried. He was worth a thousand US Citizens and just for that reason he could never be one, it would have destroyed his credibility

If we don't do something big and effective about this we are DONE as far as intelligence gathering goes and that is EVERYWHERE and FOREVER. These kind of people risk their lives daily and if they ever even think we don't have their backs entirely we will never hear anything from any one of them again, or most likely get nothing but lies.

FRACK the god-cursed arms deal and all the Fracking Joooobs. The lives of thousands of our soldiers for the next century and (maybe they'll listen to this) trillions of our dollars for years to come are at stake here.

Then again, to hell with it. The traitor in chief probably gave the names of all our spies in Russia to his butt buddy when he had that meeting with the Russian Ambassador where he couldn't let any American reporters in last year. Thank you, Republicans, for a year of hearing the world's biggest retard take credit for prosperity he had nothing to do with we have traded our position as a world power and an information network it took hundreds of years and thousands of lives to build up, thanks a whole hell of a bunch.

God, we HAVE to send these jerkwads home next month, our very survival depends upon it.

This long rant and temper tantrum is not surprising. We're used to it by now. However as I have highlighted, you have shown how far off the walls the alt left has gone.

    Thank you for posting this.

And thank you for posting nothing but insults in reply, thus proving you have no rebuttal to anything I said.

Are you TRULY so benightedly misinformed that you think everyone must be an American citizen to be valuable to this country? A lot of the kind of people I am talking about here are valuable just BECAUSE they aren't Americans

I remind you that the most decisive and important battle of the ARW, one of the very few where we would almost certainly not exist if if had gone the other way, had not one American soldier in it and wasn't even in sight of North America

His actions in a foreign country has nothing to do with our 1st Amendment rights. While it is sad that he lost his life, dozens of other journalists were killed in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan for doing their jobs as well. These losses did not result in sanctions. His death took place overseas so let INTERPOL or some other international agency look into and remedy the matter.

Hmmm. Where are the Trump supports' concerns when an ally butchered a American legal permanent resident?

The Saudis are attacking the principle of freedom of the press. This is an instance of this attack. It’s not hard to understand. We are the birthplace of freedom of the press, and they are it’s murderers. Just as there can be no compromise between a virgin and a rapist, there can be no compromise between a free nation and a dictatorship.

I totally believe you felt insulted and that your feelings were hurt. Your post was the equivalent of a drunk chick going home and blasting her ex boyfriend in her diary.

LOL! You said he's worth more than 1000 US citizens.

Where were the Republicans when traitor Bush allowed even more USA foreign diplomatic personnel to die during his regime?

For me it isn't about them being a journalist. It is about them being a legal resident of the US.
We should take some kind of action. Even if we don't hit the Crown Prince, we can poke at his inner circle, the same way we did with Russia.

Obviously the Saudis don't support freedom of the press. While it is a founding principle of our country it is not a founding principle of Saudi Arabia which is basically a family business.

And he probably was, Jeebus, do you have NO idea of how valuable good intell officers are to us? One piece of strategic info can easily save MANY thousands of US lives. But you don't give a frack about that, you'd probably ignore anything that didn't come from an American citizen, right?.
