It is, to a certain extent. But calories in over calories out is probably the biggest factor.

    Don't like the word ''subsidizing''?

    What about Government Relief?

    Example;

Question; Do you believe Trump's Relief Checks should have been counted as taxable INCOME?

    YES or NO, and why?

Understand what I'm saying?.........it doesn't have to be ''excluded''!

A non-sequitur. "Government relief" can certainly be viewed as subsidizing, but it has nothing to do with not taxing personal income. Whether or not Pandemic stimulus money should be included in income tax is simply and strictly a matter of how much money the congress and president wanted to get into someone's hands. It was their choice: $1200, or 80% of $1200

If you can go wait in line for McDonalds you can spend 1/2 hour cooking or even less.

The people I see buying expensive processed foods with food stamps are unemployed and have plenty of time to cook.

Our tax code is full of candies, and many red ones compared to other countries.

So on top of everything else you want government to control what you eat. I can't believe you believe that. Isn't it possible that obesity results from personal choice and not a lack government intervention in the food industry.

People on this forum complain often about the tax code. If changing it is so popular whey hasn't it been changed? The reason, of course, is the tax code is written for the benefit of government.

    I disagree.

My Sister, a nurse, is married to a Canadian Anesthesiologist, and they own a $1.5 million property in British Columbia. Household Income; $360,000, mortgage payments; $3,000 Bi-weekly, and NO phoooken Mortgage Interest Deduction.

Conservatives. Look at this and pay attention for once.

The important part of this is the statement at the end. please excuse the caps as it seems to escape the notice of ALL conservatives otherwise.

"...AT A FRACTION OF THE COST.."

We are paying MORE for our vaunted wonderful best in the world healthcare than anyone else, and a LOT more really. And even so, we are letting babies DIE for lack of easily available healthcare and paying through the nose to do it.

Why is this? I dunno really but I think I may. Some years ago I was an Income Maintenance Specialist. The "Welfare Man" if you will. It wasn't healthcare but I think the two fields are similar enough that you can make some very general statements about the two

And the problem I saw is that we spend twenty dollars to keep people from getting an "undeserved" two cents

Government money isn't just given as needed. It's given under the thickest layer of bureaucracy you can even conceive of. People are pushed and prodded and ALL aspects of their lives are vetted far past when the cows come home and then they MAY be given a pittance at a cost FAR beyond the tiny amount we spend to "save" a few pennies.

We make an automatic assumption that anyone getting welfare benefits is a welfare cheat and so we strain at gnats while swallowing whales whole.

And in healthcare, the problem is magnified several orders of magnitude by the nature of healthcare. No one is going to get sick just to "take advantage" of free healthcare but that is what we assume from the beginning and that, in a nutshell, is why we pay twice as much as any other country and still let children go whole lifetimes with chronic conditions. What we could have cured outright for a few dollars at 15 costs us uncounted thousands several years later. We are paying now for all the neglect from years ago

For healthcare, we are taxed FAR beyond what any other nation is and we have about the shittiest system in the world if you don't have enough to pay for insurance which generally provides not even half of what you would get in Europe for nothing.

Thanks conservatives, you really saved us a lot. Nobody "gets ovah" on us, (Though actually they do, and in droves largely BECAUSE we are so miserly with people who just want to survive.)

    DISREGARD!

    Let's be honest.......I misled everyone;

    After 5 mins of googling.....

Canucks have NO Mortgage Interest Deductions, HOWEVER, Capital gains from the sell of Primary Residences in Canada are 100% non-taxable, both short and long term.

They need to take out a longer term mortgage. What does that have to do with your disagreement with my post?

I think we are to the point where we are going to keep chickens.. I get concerned about the mass produced chicken,, i, e, even when you cook from scratch.. a good deal of it is "processed" full of chemicals and hormones you'd rather not have in your diet.. may get some goats too. I'll be starting on preparing a garden spot at noon.. been putting it off form years, but I think now is the time.. it's a done thing that inflation is going to eat up large portions of our budgets, it's making growing our own economically expedient.

I like how the left feels validated to step up to me, my private insurance company, and my private doctor and tell me they are going to force us to stop free association and free business and that I must play in their pool because they need my money for their pool to work.

    WTF?

    Talk about entitlement.

Me. My Insurance. My Doctor. My money. What the hell gives you the right to think it's acceptable to involve yourself in any of that?

Simple. You want my money spent on premiums.

    LOL. GTFOH.

It doesn't matter. It's MY money.

If I elect to spend twice as much on a Ferrari than a Cadillac....

You are arguing that every other country gets a Ford, but we have some people driving Cadillacs and other people getting substandard care, so everybody should be forced to get a Chevy.

This is the collectivism that pisses me off. The left loves playing Robin Hood with other people's money.
