Renee, I had a similar story where my dogs alerted me to two men getting ready to kick down my door.I had them both on the ground sucking dirt at 2:eek:o a.m. I live in a mountainous area where my neighbors are all part time. They all have lights on timers and I like my house dark so I can see the stars. These two guys claimed there car broke down and they needed help. I could hear it running on the road above me. I explained I was going back in the house to get dressed then I would assist them. Of course they gathered their soiled pants and headed for the hills. I never would have confronted those two if my revolver wasn't loaded. The next day I ran into the Sheriff at our hardware store and told him about my incident. He too told me "you should have shot them". They broke in to two of my neighbors homes.

He called me after I quit and asked why? I told him I came there only to learn. I cared less about a grade or a degree. He couldn't teach me a thing beyond what I already knew and he failed to answer questions I had to better myself.

I never said he was the stock market genius. My husband was born to a single mother and taking away at four years old and put in abusive foster care. He was given back at eight years old and dropped out of school due to poverty at 16 and joined the Navy at 17 where he got his high school diploma. He came back home and became a state trooper in Connecticut. He lasted a year and hated every second. He and a friend moved to New York and he went to an employment agency. She asked what kind of work he was looking for a job and he figured all he could do would be security work. By mistake she added an S and said securities? He said sure and was a clerk in the back office at Salomon brothers . He became head of the dept and was given a shot in the trading floor...he retired in his 40s ...because he could! They don’t make many like him!
It’s a compliment that you didn’t believe me....it makes him unbelievable!

Never said I didn't believe you. I love remarkable stories.....they inspire others. I want to see everyone motivated to use their gifts to the fullest and overcome the diversities that life can hand them. Too often they succumb to set backs, or voices that whisper "you can't" or "others must do it for you".. The potential is there.
Your husband made a mistake... a small one I gather, and it set the stage for him to reach a potential. I call that a "God thing". I have had a few of those. They are not my own doing. I am thankful for them and I constantly watch for them. They haven't brought me great material wealth, but in themselves they point to something much greater than myself and are wonderful examples of Grace, Love and Mercy.

Maybe we could also say if that mistake had not been made, he never would have had those opportunities either. I know countless people of color and of the female gender (sometimes both) that have gotten breaks (acts of God) they didn't merit. You never hear me talk of a religious club I belong to. All I have is a testimony. You don't get born a "believer".....it's something you experience and were chosen to. Some do belong to those "clubs" you mentioned.....but not all. Having material success does not necessarily indicate the best path taken.

So how did you go from getting dressed to assist them, to holding them at gunpoint? How did they go from asking for assistance, to kicking your door down? And if you felt confident pulling a weapon on them and impersonating Clint Eastwood, why didn't you perform a citizen's arrest and hold them for the cops?

Your story doesn't add up.

yep, a misunderstanding like that was pure luck! But he did not get any special treatment that he didn’t deserve. He was a clerk in the back office. That was the opportunity ...it had nothing to do with God it had to do with the woman interviewing him.
I never said having material success indicates the best path. That is why he retired in his 40s because he did not like what was happening on Wall Street. He was made vice president at Smith Barney and had to wait three years before he could quit because of the bonus they gave him. To the day he walked out. It was a good path because we had experiences we never could’ve had

Your statement doesn't add up. If you look at the chronological order of my statement you'd understand. Unless you're dyslexic it's easy to understand. If you lived in a rural community you would understand holding two men at gunpoint for forty minutes to an hour might invite something to happen. Typical liberal thinks announcing "I'm placing you under a citizens arrest" will force compliance. I would say Clint Eastwood impersonates me and Pee Wee Herman impersonates you. When stuff happens, and "government" isn't around for you to suckle on, I would hope you could act more like Clint than Pee Wee.

Of course we all know what Socialism is. We experience it in a limited form unfortunately We hate it. We identify it for what it is. It has no place in America.

What specifically do you hate? Do you hate public schools? Do you hate the fire department? Do you hate national parks? Do you hate cops, do you hate safe roads? Or are these all too socialistic for you. But thank goodness for people like you the billionaires are paying lower percentage taxes than you are....at least they’re not socialists. Obviously you care more about them than you do about your own pocket. You’re getting screwed and saying thank you
