I can tell you I am very frustrated by the search engine on this sight. It really sucks and has for a long time.

I might have been temped to contribute funds to the site in the most recent drive, but the fact this has gone unfixed for the better part of a year leaves me with the feeling -- until I can easily find a post I made (or anyone made) a month ago with a known keyword, or hit "search thread" and find likewise, as I can on every other discussion board --

    Nope.

You know.....one thing we need is to be able to have a LIST...of JUST POSTED REPLIES from other members to a members post.

I have only been on a couple of Internet Forums but I know one of the capabilities the other forums had was that when a member signed on and went to their Control Panel they had a LIST so they could see WHO and WHERE other members had replied to one of your posts.

Now what happens is a member will go to their control panel and they will have a list of subscribed topics or threads but a member has to search through that thread to find out or not if another member DIRECTLY POSTED A REPLY to one of your posts on that thread.

Now unless there is some way to find that on this forum...and if there is would a Mod PLEASE tell me how to do that??......but if not.....it would be a good idea to program that ability into this forum.

    Thanks.

i went to a bad public schools ran by liberals and teachers unions, and never learned how to write proper sentences with grammar and fancy sentence structure taught to us from mother england. i think i write at an elementary school level, or maybe worse.

my writing ability is terrible, and it would take a mod with poor writing ability who can relate to my incompetence to interpret my posts as legal under the rules.

i think elite moderation should be discouraged to protect the oppressed and ignorant posters like myself, who are victims of society.

I think a list of all replies to a specific post would be cool.
But currently you can already check to see if anyone has quoted you in general by going up to your notifications at the top of the page.

AA there used to be an option for this. Let me check if it is still and get back to you with an edit in this post.

    John

    EDIT:

Not sure where it went but I can no longer find this option. I know it was there because it drove me crazy and I turned it off.

How do I get out of a 'new user' status?

I've seem to have lost the ability to do some things since I got this status.

Yeah.....it would really be nice if we had this option.

It is a real pain in the ass trying to find if someone replied to your post!

Oh I am aware of that.

But it requires several steps when other forums right on your Control Panel you not only see your subscribed topics but as well it allows you with one click to go DIRECTLY to your post that another member has quoted.

Plus the format and how it is displayed SUCKS!!

I appreciate the info but guy's really?

You need to the ability to look down your entire subscribed to list and be able to read and notice other posts as a persons brain with do a cross referencing comparison on a subconscious level and be able to see exactly WHERE within that topic the reply is or at the very least the first reply and that way a member can subconsciously form a scale/list of both importance and a scale/list of time sensitive.

    Hey...maybe it just me but?

    Thanks!

It's possible no ones quoted you recently. Oops! I just quoted you now. :) Can you see it?
If its still not showing, I wonder if maybe that feature is disabled through your settings or something.

I can't find the option to turn quotes on or off. There was a time when I could

    EDIT:

I found a switch under "User Tagging" "Settings" "Quote Alerts" I have the "Quote Alerts" setting set to "Hide Quote Alerts"

I recall changing this setting. I didn't recall where it was.

    Thanks

Control Panel - > Settings (the one under "User Tagging" on the left side) maybe?
See if you have some stuff checked off there and uncheck them.
(specifically the one about quotes near the bottom)
BTW,...not sure why everything there is referred to as "email".
I have nothing checked off there, and yet I never get any emails.
So perhaps "email" is in reference to political forum's internal messaging system...

Up, looks like you found it :)

Please do not mistake my post which is just pointing out a possible way to make this forum even better with your assumption that I am somehow displeased I am here.

Maybe the word SUCKS could have been the trigger.

Maybe this has been asked elsewhere, but what happened to the "View threads created" function? Not that I have that many, but I kinda miss being able to see who created what threads.

And while I'm at it, I used to be able to view every post I made in order, not to mention those of everyone elses. Just looking at mine, I can look at recent posts, which ends at May 29th, and look at older posts, which for me starts at February - but the posts in between - pfft. Why is that?

Well half of the current events section is locked or moved.

Does anyone think it's good moderating when the forum is basically unreadable? Look the job of a staff is to be a like a hockey ref. Regulate the over the top stuff but let the membership regulate itself in the small stuff. When your actions are all the forum sees muck have like a referee taking over the game you are doing too much.
