First, most of Antarctica is getting colder.

Arctic ice is afloat on the ocean meaning that if the entire artic ice pack melted it won't raise sea levels an inch. There simply isn't enough water trapped on Greenland to cause catastrophic sea rise.

In a far shorter period of time, we will use up the fossil fuels and then we can concentrate on substitutes. The marketplace will handle that without any government interference.

First, not one tide gauge worldwide shows any acceleration in sea levels over about 100 years. Only tide gauges are used for local planning. Sea level is rising at the same rate that it did before the IPCC says CO2 is an issue.

At the rate it is rising then adapting is easy.

Arctic sea ice has grown. The Antarctic is too cold to melt other than West Antarctica that lies on the ring of fire and has possibly 100s of volcanoes.

Greenland waxes and wanes based on ocean circulation patterns and observations on just about everything is very short in the scheme of things.

There will be no "global solution". You might as well put "world peace" on that list.

If you think the Chinese, India, and the African continent are going to do anything about "global warming", you're kidding yourself.

I mean they'll be happy to take the money given to them by stupid people leading stupid countries, but they won't be using it on "global warming".

I cannot comprehend why this proposal gets any rational attention at all. It's like having a special session of Congress to debate the latest Dr. Suess book. All these congresspeople, pundits, media, and political experts scratching their chins and pontificating -- boggles the mind!

This is what happens when junior congressmen try to take the reins.

Let's remember that Ocasio-Cortez allowed her staff to project objectives that are NOT part of the agreed green new deal.

She had to walk that back.

In the end, she did very real damage to the green new deal, as now the anti-environment Republican party can point at stuff that did not get thought through, did not get agreement and is NOT part of the proposal.

Also, the proposal is a statement of direction, not a prescription for the next budget.

I agree that there will be no "global solution". It will be more like the Paris accords where countries will set their own objectives and work toward those objectives using methods they find to be appropriate.

But, you are dead wrong about China.

Today, China leads in clean energy. Suggesting they will be taking money or be less than committed has been proven dead wrong. They are the leading clean energy patent owners, the leading producers of clean energy technology, the leaders in exporting clean energy technology and the leaders in deploying clean energy at home.

In the first 3 months of 2018, China brought on line 10 gigawatts of solar power - an amount equivalent to 3 giant nuclear reactors. That number isn't out of line with the growth in China's solar power in the preceeding two years. They are actually outstripping their transmision infrastructure with solar power!

    https://www.technologyreview.com/th...-and-potentially-troublesome-amount-of-solar/

And, thery have good reason beyond global warming - their pollution problems are major.

We're not just refusing to help nations that need help in energy. We're not taking advantage of the giant market for clean energy.

China will mass produce any junk item they can sell for a buck.

Their interests are purely monetary and to not be reliant on foreign energy.

    As for their "going green".....sure.

We will mass produce any junk we can sell for a buck, too.

Let's remember that the US is the world leading per capital producer of CO2.

And, China does have work to do as the leading total producer. However, your chart is chosen to deemphasize the reduction in focus on coal and the increased focus on renewables.

Well, I doubt you are right about the reason.

But, there isn't any question that they are getting right on that.

Sure they are. I mean who cares what the actual numbers are in terms of pollution.

India or China throws up a row of solar panels or plants a tree and leftists swoon.

You're clearly ignoring what they are doing as the world's leader in clean energy.

    Who are they?
And does any part of that "statement of direction" bother you?

And, I know some who see a foreign country name and assume they aren't part of the leadership of the world.

    Let's remember that we're 5%.

If we want ouur 5% to lead, the 95% we're going to need to be darn serious.

The stuff emitted by Ocasio-Cortez is even being rejected by HER.

If there is a particular element of the acttual "green new deal" that you would like to call out in particular, go for it.

    Coal is clean energy eh?

CoalSwarm published a report on September 26 warning that 259 gigawatts of coal power capacity – equivalent to the entire coal power fleet of the United States – is being built in China despite government policies restricting new builds.

The Chinese will rule the world by 2100. But those deck chairs sure could be better placed.

I am calling out something which came out of her office! In particular, paying people who are unwilling to work! What do you think of such an idea?

Yes. That's not news at all.

Their need for electricity has outstripped their ability to do it with clean energy alone.

Their clean energy direction is the world leader.
