    When that same person also tortures people in the singularly most evil and unjust way that could ever possibly exist?

    Yes, that is slavish worship.

    Wrong. The devil tortures people. You have a choice.

    So the devil is more powerful than god? God gets no say in the torture system the devil uses? God didn't create hell and set its parameters?

    The choice is a coerced one. It's no different than the "choice" you have if I walk up to you on the street, put a gun in your face, and demand your money or your life.

    Hell was created for the devil. You've used the gun to the head analogy before, and it's incorrect. God is giving you a choice between eternal darkness and eternal life. Why would you choose eternal darkness?

    He was just following the lead of that famous Christian, Founder of Protestantism, Martin Luther.

    In the treatise, Luther describes Jews as a "base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth."[6] Luther wrote that they are "full of the devil's feces ... which they wallow in like swine,"[7] and the synagogue is an "incorrigible whore and an evil slut".[8]

    In the first ten sections of the treatise, Luther expounds, at considerable length, upon his views concerning Jews and Judaism and how these compare to Christians and Christianity. Following the exposition, Section XI of the treatise advises Christians to carry out seven remedial actions. These are

    1. to burn down Jewish synagogues and schools and warn people against them;
    2. to refuse to let Jews own houses among Christians;
    3. for Jewish religious writings to be taken away;
    4. for rabbis to be forbidden to preach;
    5. to offer no protection to Jews on highways;
    6. for usury to be prohibited and for all silver and gold to be removed, put aside for safekeeping, and given back to Jews who truly convert; and
    7. to give young, strong Jews flail, axe, spade, and spindle, and let them earn their bread in the sweat of their brow.[9

    To me...Ignorance IS darkness. So basically God gave me intellectual curiosity and then tells me not to use it or get tortured forever?

    What a Dlck!

    And the guy with the gun is giving you a "choice" between death and giving him money.

    Either way, it's not a free choice.

    And thank you for admitting that god created the torture system and thus is responsible for the torture of everyone who goes to hell, making him even more evil than the devil.

    I see your problem. You hate your Creator. Remember, wherever you spend eternity, it's YOUR choice.

    It's not my choice. It's a situation I was forced into against my will and the choice I am given is not free, no different than if a man is holding a gun to my head asking for my wallet.

    If I give him my wallet it isn't charity, and if I "choose" not to give him my wallet, that doesn't make my death suicide.

    You should probably take a second to ask yourself why you would worship an evil god who would torture people for eternity for temporal sins, aka the single most unjust and evil thing that could possibly exist.

    It's always your choice. Your hate and anger at your Creator is your choice. He provided an eternity of life and you say it's like holding a gun to your head. I pity you.

    He provided an eternity of slavish worship or torture. Neither of those are good choices and the choice is not free.

    Yes, it is free. He paid for it himself. You're acknowledging His existence and don't even realize it. Eternal life with God is the best choice. Have a nice day.

    Given the hypotheticals, I would have to agree that Eternal life with God is the better choice.

    But, really, think about it. ETERNITY! After a mere 1,000,000,000,000,000 years or so, I would become stark raving mad from the absolute boredom of there being nothing I haven't already experienced in Heaven. Worse yet, I'd know that I have another (Eternity minus 1,000,000,000,000,000 years) of doing more of the same. I could only hope that the Merciful Lord would make me comatose for those remaining years.

    I thank god I don't believe in such silly nonsense.

    No. This is thread is about what you, Mitt and some others THINK the Bible says. The problem is that you don't want others to disagree with you or prove you wrong. If you had read my posts over the time this thread has been going you would know that there are parts of the Bible I agree with. The problem is you believe in events and stories that are impossible if we take the Bible story and place it against modern knowledge.

    Comparing eternity to this life, it would be boring eventually. However, we can't begin to comprehend what eternity is like because we aren't living in it.

    I have. See my previous posts. You just won't accept the proof. Not my fault you think Moses was a psychic who managed to get several things wrong. Or that Abraham lived for 500 years. Or that the Chaldeans were surprised to find themselves a 1000 years in the past, ruling a destroyed city. Or that out of a population of certainly less than a million we find 1.3m men fighting each other. Or a million man army marching a 1000 miles from Ethiopia to fight an army of 40,000 men they probably had never heard of. Oh, and God forgot to tell Joshua that Ai did not need conquering. It was 1000 years long gone.

    If there was a global flood and everyone died except Noah's family.. there population of earth would have been 136 people by the time of the Tower of Babel.

    Eternal life doing nothing but praising an evil egomaniac who tortures people who don't praise him?

    Heaven is identical to North Korea.

    You missed the point. If there is proof he is innocent, the court cannot allow punishment. God doesn't need proof, so allowing the innocent to be punished for the deeds of others means that god had no sense of justice. (Or maybe god is just a human creation)

    Yes booooooooring! What happens after the eventual boredom sets in? You still have all of eternity to continue to be bored.
    Maybe you should try to comprehend it.

    We can't comprehend immortality and eternity with an earthly limited mind.

    Yep. Dresden wouldn't have happened except for Hitler. Blame him for Dresden.
