That's not even what you should be looking for if you're trying to establish a limit after which an event must have occurred. You're talking about many different events though. Manuscript fragments don't contain bits and pieces of stories. They are pieces of pages written on both sides(most of them anyway). There are over 25,000 distinct sets now, most of them newer than your earliest date, as you probably know. The thing is; if you have even just a few pieces of a given book matching all of the other thousands of manuscript copies from later dates, you have to set the terminus ante quem for the writing of that book to the date of the oldest fragment, or posit a massive conspiracy theory that would require divine intervention.

You also mentioned the compilation of the NT in a form including at least what it includes now. That's a different event from the writing of each book, right? I'm not gonna go digging up links right, but I'm telling you; that was done by 220 AD.

 

That's interesting. I visited my doctor who prescribed treatment for my knee problem. I have complete faith in my doctor who has proved herself a very competent in the past.But it is certainly not spiritual.

That's not spiritual faith. That's trust developed by knowledge and experience with your doctor, and your doctor is fallible. God's word isn't fallible.

He can see Abraham buying land from a Hittite who has not yet come into existence, and he can see the Chaldeans ruling the destroyed city of Ur - 1000 years before they come into existence as the Neo Babylonian empire. Nope. God is perfect and is able to deliver and keep his word.

 

If he is perfect...why does he allow me to disbelieve in him while threatening me with hell for not believing in him......why not just make me so I believe?

 

You want to be a puppet or would you prefer free will? Would you prefer to be loved by someone because you force them or because they choose to love you?

 

Ahhh....as expected the "Free Will" dodge. If God is perfect then...why give me free will that can be used to disbelieve in him? For that matter why does he need me to believe in him at all...Ego issues?

 

Not a dodge at all. Answer the question. Would you rather be loved by someone who chose to love you or because you forced them?

 

The question is a blatant refusal to answer the questions posed to YOU by asking instead of answering...this tactic is known as a dodge in debate.

Still to avoid being guilty of what you are doing:
Obviously any thinking human would prefer to be loved without forcing it....which is not love.

I don't say the Bible is wrong on dates. The stories are just allegories. If people don't want to accept this, that's not my problem. I'm bored with talking to people who only want to believe what the Bible says, instead of studying. The Bible is simply a book written by man.

So you DO know what god looks like. Interesting. All we have in the Bible are the attributes of an unknown god from the mind of man.

 

The Bible says we are created in God's image. That means far more than appearance.

 

So the Bible is lying when it claims that all you have to do to get to Heaven is accept Jesus?
