Businesses don't run the government. They adapt to what it does. HD is adapting in the way it thinks best. My guess is that all this tariff business will be straightened out before HD can look for someplace to put a plant. They are being successful at making their point, however.

We'll see when the suit is finalized. If he has been found in violation the Emoluments Clause, and he very likely will be, that's a "high crime or misdemeanor" necessary for impeachment.

Don't get to excited, general rule of thumb, if it takes longer than a year to determine something in Washington it not going to stick ;)

And combine it with this and it's back to leftist digging around in their corn flake boxes for a prize again!

    Is Trump in trouble?
Trump and his unlimited access to lawyers will most likely breeze thru this, if they had him they'd have HAD him already :)

The H-D move is largely strategic and wise. Their main market is Europe (is there a lesson here?) given that, their move to Europe was inevitable, Trump's ill-advised trade war merely accelerated the move. Pinning their decision on Trump just added to the fun. H-D management boasts a lot of Democrats. Welcome to Wisconsin.

Ha ha ha. You sir are so naive and cannot see what is right in front of you. Of course big business and wall street greatly affect all kinds of policy that is created to serve their own self interests, which is profits, even when it weakens this nation.

You are living under a myth which does not exist in reality. A myth supported by ignorance of reality.

My original post in this thread was refuting a post that said impeachment required a crime and there was none. There are crimes- and violations of the Emoluments Clause is one that has been working its way through the courts. Then there's the question of conflicts of interest with his foreign business interests. Did we negotiate a blockade of Qatar because they wouldn't loan Jared Kushner money? It sure seems like that happened… to our ally, Qatar.

Impeachment is a political act, not a legal one. The only thing necessary to impeach is the political will to do it, and the President doing something wrong. That's why it doesn't even require a felony. Trump has violated the law- the Emoluments Clause, at the very least. He could be impeached based on that.

I don't know whether Trump will win this lawsuit or not. The point is, Trump has done things that could result in impeachment, and would result in impeachment, if Congress was performing its Constitutional obligation to provide a check on the Presidency. If Hillary had been elected and had done any of the same things Trump has done, the impeachment process would have already been in progress, if not finalized, and she'd be out of office. Congress should have sanctioned Trump over language used with our allies, and over separating migrant kids from their parents, and other missteps, even if they didn't go full impeachment. However, they've put party over country to maintain power.

The American people are tiring of the palace intrigue, the constant negativity and divisiveness, alienating our allies, and courting tyrants. When Trump's approval rating is lower than the number that want him impeached, even before the Mueller investigation has been completed, he's got problems.

Only time will tell if the voters do put in a check on the President, but the polls seem to indicate that's the way things are going.

You know, I flat out don't believe you. You have a rep for fantasizing about Trump.

But, mostly I don't believe you because what you are saying conflicts with reality and you provide no sources to support your wild assertions.

Wow, two very interesting links, but Trump's fans will never read them. They hate reality. They much prefer fantasizing about what a great President Trump is, and all this talk about impeachment and his historically low approval numbers is just fake news.

I wrote this post on Sunday. It mentioned several lapses in policy created by Trump.

A recent Gallup Poll shows that 90% of Republicans approve of Trump. https://news.gallup.com/poll/235751/trump-job-approval-tying-personal-best.aspx

What are they approving? His tariffs policy has cause trade wars with China, Canada, Mexico, and the 28 countries of the EU. His summit with Kim Jong Un was no more than a glorified photo op during which Trump gave Kim three major concessions while Kim gave none, his immigration policy is a PR disaster, the White House is in chaos, the turnover rate for members of his staff is over 45%, and even though Congress is controlled by his party, he can't get any major legislation through except the tax bill. Health care is a disaster, and so is infrastructure. He refuses to hold regular press conferences because he is afraid of the White House press corps. He is the first President in 40 years to refuse to reveal his tax returns. He is being investigated by the special prosecutor for collaboration with a hostile foreign power and obstruction of justice.

When his supporters are confronted with these issues, they run and hide, change the subject, make wisecracks, and/or provide cartoons. When faced with real issues, they can't approve of Trump.

So, I ask, what are they approving? His good looks? His sexy First Lady? His bigotry? His xenophobia?

There have many replies from Trump fans since that post. Not one defended Trump.

I can't imagine that. If I supported a President, and someone was critical of that President, I would enthusiastically defend the President I supported. But that is not true of Trump fans, and they prove that over and over again.

There certain segments of Fox that have become critical of Trump, Shepherd Smith, The Journal Editorial Report, hosted by Paul Gigot, and Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.

You are talking about lobbyists and politcal donations. Those don't run the government. They simply corrupt the people who do.

It is unlikely he will be and no it is not a crime at all.

Civil courts do not decide on crimes.

I love how both parties use the stock market as a weapon or completely ignore it.

This is both parties mind you ...

But whenever the market goes up or down, you can be sure to find posts about how it is great or evil from both sides of the isle. Is there more powerful a political weapon?

Are you perfectly content for a president to not follow the laws of this country, with no consequence?

So the prosecution has no evidence to offer in a case that is moving forward? The judge seems to disagree with you…

But Judge Messitte seemed more sympathetic to claims by attorneys general for the District of Columbia and Maryland that the president had created an unfair playing field for convention centers and other facilities that compete against Trump-owned properties. “The argument is that as president he is unduly attracting business,” the judge said. “There is some evidence of that.

However, my point remains… Congress isn't doing their job in acting as a check on the power of the President, as they are Constitutionally required to do.

John Crudele writes, "Is President Trump trying to intentionally cause a stock market crash?

"It might look that way as Trump continues to rile international trade tensions on almost a daily basis — and Wall Street nearly every day gives him a thumbs down.

"The Dow Jones industrial average fell another 425 points by early Monday afternoon — bringing it down more than 9 percent from its all-time high, or thisclose to correction territory.
The DJIA closed at 24,252.80, down 328.09.

"All the other major market indexes also fell sharply. The Dow has now declined nine out of the last 10 days.

"The slide on Monday was set in motion over the weekend when it became known that Trump was thinking of limiting Chinese investments in the US and, in particular, in the technology industry.

"People who don’t know Trump might think he just likes picking fights — and they would be correct. Those who do know him understand that not only does Trump like picking fights but also that doing so is is how he conducts business.

"Whether the negotiating tactics he used during his business years — browbeating opponents until they cave to his demands — will work on international trade is anyone’s guess. And if Trump said he knew how this would all turn out, he’d be lying."

Unfortunately for Trump, Justin Trudeau of Canada, Theresa May of Britain, Emmanuel Macron of France, and Angela Merkel of Germany are not building contractors and they don't respond well to threats.

It is not a prosecution it is a law suit.

There is no prosecution and therefore no evidence of a crime

Here's the real dread. No blue wave in 2018, and no viable challenger in 2020. It'll cost libs $1.2 billion to call Trumps bluff. Donate your GOP tax refunds to the DNC and see what it buys you.

Except of course when Muslims make threats in which case they pass more laws to limit free speech and Teresa May apologizes in Arabic language, while warning British native citizens that they will be thrown in prison like Tommy Robinson if daring to criticize Muslim terrorist gangs.

I'm not sure which part of this you aren't getting, but impeachment does not require a "crime." It is a political act. The lawsuit is going to determine whether or not Trump has violated the public trust by accepting foreign emoluments, when “no person, holding an office of profit or trust, shall accept of any present or emolument whatever, from any foreign power, without the consent of the representatives of the people.” Violating the public trust is an impeachable offense.

Congress has the Constitutional obligation to provide a check on the power of the President. Impeachment is not the only method of checking the power of the president. They can also censure and override vetoes, if they are functional enough to actually pass laws. They should have already acted, especially when Trump was critical of our allies for no particular reason, but they have decided to put party power over the best interests of the country.

    Quite wrong.

it is a legal act and requires high crimes and / or misdemeanors. It cannot be done because of something as subjective as trust or lack of. You must have a specific crime and that is constitutional law.

Civil courts are not criminal courts and they mean nothing in terms of impeachment

I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you?

Perhaps, you can give us an example. Currently, we are talking about the effects of Trump's tariffs on the stock market. Do you have a problem with that? If so, spell it out.

That's a problem with Trump's fans. They always speak in terms of vague generalities, never specifics.

The stock market has been hugely overvalued for years! The Federal Reserve is responsible for all of this 'fraud-balloon' over-bloat, and it cannot be supported any longer. LOOK OUT BELOW!

And don't (DON'T) rush out and buy gold and silver bullion or coins. There's no 'good' place to be when this rupture begins except for being OUT of all 'markets'....
