There seems to be plenty hypocrisy to go around, and both sides are clearly pushing their own agendas, rather than looking for ways to benefit the country.

IMO, the problem got much worse when we no longer had conservative Democrats and progressive Republicans. As long as we had conservative Dems and Reps, and progressive Dems and Reps, there was a way to find some bipartisan cooperation using ideology, rather than party. Until Congress stops doing things unilaterally by one party, leaving half the nation out, we will continue to have partisan war.

:roflol::roll: What a remarkably stupid statement. Is that a talent you have, or do you have to work at it?

My wife and I live on Social Security and a small pension, emphasis on small. We certainly are not rich. Since February, we have lost thousands in our mutual funds and IRA's. Are we unique? No. There are millions just like us.

I am going out on a limb here and saying you voted for Trump. You sound like one of his fans.

Our conversation is over. I'm not going to argue with you over facts you are unwilling to accept.

From the title, I thought this thread was about President Trump appointing a second non-liberal SC judge. Guess we're still in denial about that Win-of-the-week. ;)

I'll let the courts decide whether or not Trump has violated the Emoluments Clause, and then we'll see what Congress does, if he has been found to have violated it. The only reason I brought it up in the first place was to refute another saying there had been no crime and that the Emoluments case was a tort, not a crime, and therefore not a possible reason for impeachment.

It's easy to call something BS, when it doesn't impact you, personally. Every other president in history has put their assets in blind trusts to assure the American people there was no conflict of interest between their business and the business of the American people… except Trump. Of course that was going to be challenged legally. Oddly enough, China gives Ivanka some trademarks, and Trump calls for the ban on ZTE to be lifted. Coincidence or quid pro quo?

I don't expect courts to be "friendly" or "unfriendly" to politicians. I expect courts to rule based on law.

My opinion is that members of Congress are complicit in not holding Trump accountable for several things he's done as President, where he should have been censured, at the very least. You're welcome to whatever opinion you would like to hold.

It was over when I proved you wrong.

I stated facts you did not, and the facts I stated prove you wrong.

I watched Fox News Sunday today with Chris Wallace. This impartial commentator is swinging more to the right as each week goes by. Perhaps, he is under orders from his boss. It is no secret that Fox News is a Trump friendly network with the likes of Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Tucker Carlson, and the Trump fans that host "Fox and Friends," Trump's favorite.

Wallace's guest today was Trump's controversial NSA, John Bolton. They spent some time on the G-7 summit, and the upcoming NATO and Helsinki summits where Trump and Putin will talk. They discussed the strained relationship between Trump and the Western democracies.

Wallace completely avoided the elephant in the room, the reason there is a strained relationship between Trump and the leaders of Canada, Britain, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and others. Wallace avoided completely the 25% steel tariff and 10% aluminum tariff he placed on these countries and others, starting a trade war. A trade war during which everyone loses.

Why Wallace avoided the obvious is a mystery, but there is one possible answer.

His producers assumed that the bulk Wallace's listeners were Trump fans and they know very little about the tariffs or nothing at all. Why open a can of worms for Fox's major audience.

This seems logical in light of comments made by Trump's fans on this thread. It is obvious they know little about the tariffs. Despite enlightening posts by those knowledgeable of tariffs, his fans don't seem to care about the negative impact on jobs, the economy, and Wall Street. Most try to avoid the consequences of the tariffs and are saturating the thread with unrelated issues.

NBC reports, "General Motors is one of the latest to weigh in on the threat of new tariffs targeting foreign autos and automotive parts, warning that GM could be forced to scale back production and cut U.S. jobs.

"GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra, who briefly served on President Donald Trump’s economic advisory council before it was disbanded last year, is the latest to come out against tariffs that could run as high as 25 percent. Harley-Davidson has already announced plans to move some production abroad, while BMW has said it would likely cut back operations at its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant that is currently the largest exporter of American-made automobiles.

“Increased import tariffs could lead to a smaller GM, a reduced presence at home and abroad for this iconic American company, and risk less — not more — U.S. jobs,” GM said in a statement submitted to the Commerce Department which has been ordered to consider whether auto imports are a threat to national security and, if so, whether tariffs need to be implemented."

Trump's tariffs are a total failure. For every job they save, we lose 16.

This trade barrier may be considered another metaphorical "WALL", considering all his isolationist policies designed to MAGA.

But the United States, with only 5% of the world's population, possesses one third of its wealth. . . . Are we that greedy, or is it just our President???

Mexico and Canada are already parts of the TPP, and it is reasonable to assume that China and other embittered countries will join, and boycott American products whenever possible. . . . This will foster increased competition for American markets and terminate our world leadership status.

I would expect that this tariff order will eventually be rescinded, but unless Trump is removed from office, continued repercussions are inevitable.
