But they can identify with steroid users, spouse abusers, dog killers and guys who drive drunk and kill people?

I'm not familiar with this source at all. But if this story is true, I could hug this guy:

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin explained on Sunday morning why his team would remain in the locker room during the national anthem in Chicago. He didn’t want his team to be part of a political discussion, or there to be division in the locker room as a result of players protesting or not protesting. But in the end there was one player who took the field, offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva.

Villanueva’s career in the NFL didn’t begin until 2014. Prior to that, he served three tours of duty in Afghanistan, where he served as a Captain in the army, as well as being an army ranger.

And that is fine with me too. We are making way too big a deal out of all this.

This isn't a first amendment issue, NFL players get fined for dancing or praying in the end zone.

Odd, new league? Would these be the Butt Raiders you'll be watching.

    I'm confused.

Apparently so. They abuse drugs, beat their wives and drive drunk. Dog killing is a bit beyond the pale, though? Whatever happened to that guy?

    Great post.

This is the man the players are disrespecting.

All this has to be causing issues between team members.

So the steelers only respect America when trump is not president?

Thats typical of liberals who only love America when they get what they want

The people who protest problems love their country just as much or more then the people who just go along to the crowd.

The protests sincerely want to make America into even a better place.

Just like all the people who want to Make America Great Again. (From the politican who says the "White House is a dump".)

    Actually there are two.
Premise # 1. That anyone can determine who does or does not 'love their country' based on whether they participate in a protest, or whether they bend a knee during the anthem. 2. that football fans as a class are stupid enough to buy into premise #1

    OK.

What is your theory on why football fans overlook wife beating but reject anthem kneelers?

In this case the problem is Billy Bad Ass black people who fight the law

They are a blight on our society and morons like the Pittsburgh Steelers should stick to playing football instead of community organizing

You are making the same mistake. A single act at the beginning of a football game is an incredibly simplistic measure of anyone's 'respect for America'

I have not seen evidence yet that football fans as a class are 'rejecting' anthem kneelers.

I cancelled my cable TV today and gave DirectTV the NFL disrespect for our country as my reason. If even 1/10th of the Trump voters do the same the NFL is finished.

I've seen it cited as a reason for the NFL's drop in ratings.

    They were protesting the president?

Because the president called out the protesters?

Has our entire society turned into first graders?

Surely not all of them. And there are surely better ways to protest problems than this way which is easily "misinterpreted."

It tells me they are at best ungrateful slobs who tolerate America when it gives them what they want and hate America when it doesn't
