I'll be more blunt. It's hypocritical to protest things that don't objectively exist. Protesting supposed police discrimination against blacks is the intellectual equivalent of protesting leprechauns' subjugation and mistreatment of bigfoots. The American public realizes full well that the BLM narratives on police discrimination are factually and logically indefensible, entirely unsubstantiated in any credible way, are lie narratives.

Now to add insult to injury, people who are not bright even by celebrity standards are injecting those lie narratives into a forum in which the very OPPOSITE of what they are claiming is the case. There IS objective, if de facto, race based discrimination in the NFL as there is in ALL pro and college sports. If schools were "mixed" based on NFL racial proportions, they'd be shut down. No, I'm not advocating that I get drafted to even things out, that would make US as bad as the gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex.

It's "merit based" you say? Well tell that to the tens of millions of white, male Americans unethically and directly affected by affirmative action discrimination in school, career and elsewhere for decades who had nothing to do with any past discrimination in this country's history... middle class whites who, coincidentally, make up a large portion of the NFL audience. Paying quite a chunk of change to watch the pinnacle of "black privilege" in America protest something that doesn't even exist sticks in a lot of people's craws, and acknowledging that, or that people feel that way, is not "racist" in the least. The very opposite in fact. But go ahead and tell me how it is, as you will likely do.

But that's OK, surely what happened to ESPN won't happen to the NFL too.

I work for a union company and if the Union tried to stage a sit-in or post anything that was controversial or political the management would start firing some people. Why? Because they are a private company and have control over how their business is run, they are not the government. If the owners cow-tow to the players then they are no better than they are and deserve the consequences. I believe Disney is learning this from their foray into politics with ESPN. Baseball surely learned the wrath of the fans in 1994. They still haven't recovered. The NFL thought they were untouchable and could run rough shod and do what they pleased. They are killing the golden goose.

This may be one of the best summations of this issue I've seen on this forum so far.

Or maybe no words can penetrate the extreme hate you feel for trump and maybe your hate for what some people feel is a racist America

Why should we punish anyone for peacefully protesting? Protesting is an American as apple pie and famous athletes have been using their fame to protest many issues in the past and will probably continue.

So this is no longer about police brutality but about union thuggery.

What does disrespecting the flag and what it stands for have to do with BLM? Many a black has died or been wounded defending this country so it may be free. Then again it seems that the left hates anything that stands for American Freedom.

Only the most hopeless brainwashed morons are boycotting sports over this. Real sports fans respect the players and allow them to have actual opinions. These alt-WRONGers only watch games so they can eat pork rinds and hurl racial insults at the screen. No one will miss them. They can go back to burning crosses and enslaving their wives. None of them care about the epidemic of concussions and lives ruined by football. Meanwhile, the white supremacist in the white house has said he wants football to be even more violent. What else would I expect from a pos sexual predator?

Same here. I don't like Politics entering the pastime of Sports. I'm going to tune out on all of them until this crap goes away.

The one thing all teams have in common is the USA. This is the part all the teams share in common, despite which team you root for or the ones you don't root for on any given day. The common thread that brings them all together is they are American, like the fans that watch them.
To see these spoiled rich people crapping on the country that makes it possible them to be spoiled rich people playing a game turns me right off.

I noticed he didn't take the field, only stood at the entrance to the locker room tunnel. I believe he was respecting both the anthem and his fellow teammates' decision.

Ratings have been going down since before this brouhaha started. I have seen it cited it is because of the fans' unease and displeasure over the NFL's tepid response to the concussion epidemic.

Even wealthy black people are harassed by racist cops. They make the racist assumption that they must have stolen that fancy car they're driving. They are officially not supposed to pull someone over without probable cause, which does not include racial bias.

One need not worry about being labeled a racist unless one acts in a racist manner. Anyone who changes their behavior based on what other people thinks is craven.

I don't have any respect for the other players but nothing but respect for him

The players think the game is all about them and in some ways it is

But the public does not have unlimited patience with ungrateful players who mix politics with sports

How is this about the flag? It was an act of protesting police that blew up because people just didn't want to see anyone kneeling during the anthem that bad? Trump is just making it worse it was better off not butting in. If any people are now more likely to support the kneeling during the anthem. If you hated it before get ready it's going to be an issue now because Trump had to get involved.

Are you saying that wealthy people abrogate their rights? I have a hard time imaging Trump just shrugging it off if he was discriminated against (not that he's ever known what that feels like).

The players are the ones making it worse

Trump is expressing what millions of Americans are saying but don't get to be on TV like these players are
