The one time we were looking for a bar in Harlem. But this also happened in Jersey City and Newark when we got lost. Regarding how people were treated before we were even a country, should I get special treatment because I'm part Irish and they were treated horribly? I'm also part Armenian, so do the Turks owe me something? And I'm also part German, do I owe the Jews anything? And lastly, I'm part Italian and we mistreated gladiators, certainly that needs atonement and reparations.

This might sound snarky, but its' not: The only way people can feel bad about things that happened looooooong before they were born or even before we became a country is if they're taught to feel bad about it. You saw that with the confederate flag and statues, no one cared about them until they were told to.

They probably will, but I'll bet some rule changes are made prior to next year.

Dude, dude, dude...White people invented affirmative action. They tilted the playing field in their favor since they landed on these shores. They did it by force and by force of law, with all-white juries refusing to convict any white person who killed a black person. Do you think Emmitt Till got justice at the trial of his cowardly murderers? With men on the jury who were friends of the murderers? That's not affirmative action simply because it wasn't called that back then? Really? And don't get me started on schools who accepted legacy whites or those who have rich parents and actively kept out all non-whites.

I don't know what the Rooney Rule is. You'll have to explain that one to me if you think it will back up your assertions.

It's still happening, whether you admit to it or not. I don't think anyone is owed anything apart from the rights granted them upon the founding of this nation.

How does any of that impact people alive today or justify the double standards contained within AA and college athletes?

The Rooney Rule is an NFL regulation requiring all teams to interview and consider a minority person for every open head coach position. When I say minority, I don't believe the NFL had women, Puerto Ricans or Muslims in mind, it was set up specifically for blacks.

I watch sports to get away from the reality of life for a couple of hours. To get away from politics, from Trump, from protests and demonstrations. I don't tune in to watch more politics on the football field or in this case, using the NFL to protest a political point of view.

If I want politics, I come to this site. When I don't want politics, I go to another site, read a book, watch some TV or watch sports.

This whole thing is asinine. Perhaps its time to stop playing the national anthem at sporting events. Definitely time to take politics out of sporting events. If these players want to protest, fine. But do it in a protesting environment like a street march or a demonstration rally. Get politics out of sports. The football field isn't the place.

This is simply about exercising black power.........and Roger Goodell, the owners and the other players just bent over......hopefully this will kill the league and these room-temperature players can go back to working their natural jobs where they can say "you want fries wiff dat"...

I am willing to bet you were not around when Dr. King was alive and he was called and labeled as everything but the child of God.

What is insulting to his memory is the bullshit that is still going on today.

Come on dude, when have I ever advocated rioting or looting? I believe in peaceful protest as do these players which is exactly what Dr. King stood for and if he were alive today he would stand with them. Open your eyes and quit being such a hypocrite.

If by "bullshit" you mean the BLM, rioting, looting, and these stupid football so-called protests, then I would agree with you, it's insulting to MLK's memory.

We can start off with all the protests at colleges, the BLM protests, the pro vagina protests, the anti Trump protests, the DACA protests and all the boycotts libs call for. The number of protests I just mentioned could be in the thousands. Your turn.

Perhaps more importantly, how many conservative-leaning protests result in violence, rioting, and/or looting....

We could protest taxes, obamacre, illegals, refugees, affirmative action, gay marriage, tranny bathrooms, and so on. Yeah, some of that happened but it didn't occur in the numbers libs can crank out.

Let the free market decide this. The NFL is run by money hungry scumbags. They'll come around once the profits fall.
