Come'on man. That's absurd. Trump is now Mao ?? In your world Trump will soon be demanding that every US citizen melt down their metal objects so that they can be used to grow the economy ?? Too funny.

The right is the part that has historically railed against tariffs, not the left. Hence why Trump relied solely on a leftist economic think tank on the campaign trail. Most economists are against trade wars and tariffs. Yet those facts are lost on Trumpeters. Amazing. Has Trump distorted the right so much that they now mistake free market principles for leftism? You don't have to answer. That was rhetorical. Of course he has.

Another fine example of the lack of understanding of trade negotiations. Threatening tariffs is not the same as implementing tariffs. Why did Trump implement tariffs immediately ??

He did implement tariffs. Even though, Constitutionally speaking, that's Congress's job. Guess the modern right cares about limited government and the separation of powers about as much as it believes in free market principles.

You would rather be slaves to the chinese than stand up to them

You would rather make up BS and toy in fantasies than address anything I've actually said. We aren't slaves to the Chinese and we should stand up to them for their abuses. None of that changes the fact that protectionism is economically self-destructive. But please, have at your straw man if that is more entertaining.

Less consumption of cheap chinese junk means more jobs for American workers in US factories

China is trying to take over our economy and free traders want to let them

You can buy a lot of junk made in America as well. American made cars come to mind.

Well no, not really since Japanese and Korean cars are now being made in America. They are just being made to higher quality standards than American cars.

Higher prices for clothing for example mean fewer jobs for US workers.

I disagree, they read well enough to consistently beat both their parents and their teachers at lots of computer games. They may not communicate that well with these same parents and teachers but the machines understand them and that is going to be all that matters

Thats the competition I was talking about

The spoiled auto workers on detroit used to have a monopoly on car-making but non union workers in the South beat them at their own game

And I tend to agree that the japanese cars are still slightly better than the products at Ford or Government Motors

But the difference is not so much anymore

Thats just youth and brainless snowflakes like david hogg using profanity to call his patents stupid

Most of if is monkey see monkey do

But put most kids behind a cash register that does not compute change for them and they are lost

    Not fewer jobs

Maybe some yuppie design consuktant has one fewer shirt in his closet because his wardrode buget buys less

But it means more money for unemployed Americans who are no longer on welfare

NOOO...conservatives HATE modernity, they'd all MUCH rather be living back when we had knights and lords and ladies fair; and typhoid, typhus, diptheria , plague, slavery, etc etc

You give change by counting backwards, NOBODY ever used the combinations taught in school. Once kids learn that trick they're as fast and accurate as anyone. Like most old people I often have to get help from my 10year old but I recently realized why. They no longer tell you what the icons mean if you hover the marker over them. KIds follow the symbols from long familiarity, oldsters like me are still used to reading old, slow, WORDS

No, it means more money for the rich businesses to send overseas

More money for business doesn't go into jobs at all if nobody has money to buy anything This is the weakness of "supply side economics" making more things DOESN"T "stimulate demand even though there is no structural source for such" This is economics, not MAGIC. Tariffs rob efficient and modern Peter to pay outmoded and inefficient Paul and eventually none of us can buy any shirts because we've all lost them and the Chinese tourists are able to laugh at the naked Americans going on about how they used to clothe the world.

Yes, fewer jobs. Do homework on Bush 43 steel tariffs.

Trump's not a politician that makes policy to get votes. He is running America like a business to benefit the country at large. Many of us voted for him to do exactly that.
