We can both cite examples to support our points of view. I'm a liberal & a Democrat, & I've voiced my personal views in strong terms here, but I do try to keep a high level of respect for those who disagree with me, & I never propose actions that enlist hatred as a part of them. I have seen many Trump Republicans promote hatred, division, disparagement & a lack of respect toward anyone who disagrees with Trump on anything. I find that quite disturbing. Trump Republicans seem to have no concern about dividing the country over political differences, or whether that division becomes permanent. As a liberal & a Democrat, I DO care.
Please read my former response to your former post. I said there, it's easy for you or me to find examples supporting our points of view. My concern now is not whether both sides have extremists, but how do we heal the breach? Where are you on this?
I take it you are wholly unaware of the preceding thirty or so years In which a democratic campaign wasn't complete with out calling their opposite numbers stupid racists Fascist Nazis etc? Hell for that matter Even the FDR campaign against Hoover was replete with falsehoods.
My basis, right or wrong, is that i can get more context from radio than i can from TV. For clarity i don't watch TV so it is possible i am missing something. Even more to my point which i failed to include ... with the growing # internet bogs and presentations which are well represented from both sides context is abundant. The darlings of the left, print and TV are fading fast.
Because the REpublican came extremely late to the game and you act as though this is a fifty fifty proposition.
The hatred started the day Hillary conceded, Trump did nothing to cause it at that point except win an election. What do you dislike the most about his policies, his foreign policy or domestic? Which unresolved problems and what solutions would you find acceptable?
It's not like one side is dirty and the other lily white- politics is and always has been a dirty game in many ways. When that becomes the game plan rather than the last resort, and people refuse to discuss honestly when they are approached honestly, we have a much different and much more dangerous situation. That's where we are now. No one person is going to be able to fix this, any more than one person created it. The stereotyping isn't accurate when applied to individuals, but generally reflects the larger entity. Like it or not, what we allow the organizations we are part of to do will result in the labels applied to all. Any citizen can consider themselves an independent; not endorse the party in that way. I identify as a conservative. I'm a with republicans when they support the kind of conduct I respect, but I have no problem criticizing them when they don't.
Trump and the Republicans won by burning a lot of bridges and picking a lot of fights. And he continues to trash half the country. One doesn’t cause unity acting like Trump.
Obama was scandal free, yet Republicans blocked him every chance they got. Trump is very corrupt. And the Democrats have been trying to bring him to justice. Quite a bit of difference.
Repeating a lie does not make it so. You have to choose willful blindness to continue spouting that LIE. www.heritage.org › political-process › commentary › obamas-scandal... Obama's 'Scandal-Free Administration' Is a Myth | The ... Jan 16, 2017 - In reality, Mr. Obama has presided over some of the worst scandals of any president in recent decades. Except that you and I and @Seth Bullock can get along and have civil discussions about contentious issues so there is still hope.
Agreed! No Dems accused Republicans of "hating America" because they were chanting "lock her up"! So Republicans should not be pointing their hypocritical little fingers at Dems accusing them of "hating America" because they want to hold the criminal IMPOTUS accountable for his crimes under the Law of the Land! Both sides should agree that NO ONE is above the Law of the Land IMO.
Agreed! The hatred of Obama came exclusively from white nationalists. The hatred of the criminal IMPOTUS is universal across ALL demographic groups in America.
Actually what I see the PROJECTION of the extremist right's own visceral hatred onto everyone who does not support their criminal IMPOTUS. Yes, that INCLUDES moderate Republicans and former Republicans who are now Independents because they could no longer stand the stench of hatred that is now all pervading in the Party of Trump! FTR I don't hate anyone or anything. A long time ago I figured out that harboring hatred was the same thing as poisoning myself. Negative emotions like anger and hatred have negative consequences on your own body. Instead I shun hatred and express my opinions instead. So when I say that I am observing projection that is coming from an impartial POV. I have no emotional attachment whatsoever. I make my political decisions based entirely on what is best for We the People and I KNOW that ALL politicians, without any exceptions, are professional liars. The hatred that is being spewed today has it's origins in the Gingrich Manifesto of negative political discourse. He POISONED the well for partisan political benefit and that is why we are where we are today. Here is an exercise that you can try. Pick someone on the other side of the aisle and try to find COMMON GROUND on which you can reach a COMPROMISE on an issue. It doesn't matter what the issue is or who the other person is. All that matters is that BOTH of you make a GOOD FAITH attempt to find that compromise that you can both live with. If you can do that then you have achieved what the Founding Fathers did when they started our nation. Are you up to that challenge?
Did it ever occur to you when all you have is EXTREMIST media on your side that perhaps you might be on the side that is extremist?
Are you aware that comes across as playing the victim card? Poor us, we only have 1/8th of the media because the other 7/8ths does NOT embrace our extremism?
