Notice the wording. conclusively demonstrated Meaning they can not completely discount it. They have found correlation, childhood leukemia, but it is weak.. Would you be willing to build next to a high voltage long distance power line with your young children because there the danger has not been conclusively demonstrated. One of the problems with this kind of study is time. It may take decades for it to show up.

No, I haven't. But I have noticed that it has 6 cells at 2.12 volts each when fully charged.

I lived near a high voltage long distance power line for 20 years while my family was growing up healthy and happy. So did ALL of my neighbors and so does EVERYONE ELSE who lives near them.

Next time don't CHERRY PICK words OUT OF CONTEXT.

    This is what the FULL CONCLUSION reads as;

There are health risks WHEREVER you live. Power lines are NOT one of those risks.

The studies on cancer risks for people living near power lines could find NO DIFFERENCE at all in the INCIDENCE of childhood cancers between those living near and those living away from power lines. I know this because I read those studies for myself. You should try doing the same or you could be just like every other one of those people who post in the Conspiracy forum.

    Your choice.

    From the link:
"Potential health concerns about power lines were first raised in a 1979 study which associated increased risk of childhood leukemia with residential proximity to power lines. More recent studies such as that by Draper et al., confirm a reported association between elevated risk of childhood leukemia and proximity to resdiential power lines, but failed to clarify whether the observed association is causal or coincidental"

They found a correlation between childhood leukemia and power lines. Long term correlations are hard to prove because over decades other factors enter in the equation. However, there was a correlation. That would be enough for me to avoid it.

That was 40 years ago!

    NOTHING ELSE since then?

FORTY more YEARS to detect this imaginary link and you still have NOTHING?

    What does that tell you?

The above is a typical fake news response from the left. It comes from not doing homework but instead believing without questioning what was actually said and the data that backs up that statement. Long term chronic noise at levels intolerable to some people can result in stress levels that adversely affect the immune system resulting in greater susceptibility to cancer. Everyone generates cancer cells in their body which a well functioning immune system takes care of. A compromised immune system in some people cannot.

And on cue another example of the left's inability to do homework:

There is a risk. The level of that risk is unknown. It takes decades for the problems to show up. That in itself is a problem.

You just had FOUR DECADES and NO PROBLEMS have show up.

Nothing has changed regarding the power lines and the proximity to them either.

    There is no cancer risk.

I have a friend with a small farm, who refused to lease her land for windmills- but all the neighbors did, and her home is surrounded by them. I visit here several times a year. When you are outside and they are running strong, there IS pollution- three kinds. First, an audible, very low frequency "whoosh" sound- all day and all night long. Audible inside the house too, at night when things are quiet, and she has a very solid house. Secondly, there is a sort of deep, low-frequency vibration that is hard to explain. If you are very still and place yourself in contact with a rigid object like the yardlight pole she has, you can feel it. I've tried to measure it, but don't have the right kind of instrumentation. She says the animals (horses, one jack) on the farm sense it. They reacted strangely when they first started up, similar to the way they do when a subtle earthquake is occurring. She says they still act differently when the blades are idled as opposed to running- but they are running is most of the time. I suspect this is something that has subtle effects that we won't understand until they begin to produce problems not yet foreseen. Of course- the visual pollution is everywhere. While interesting at first, it becomes really ugly and obnoxious after a while.

    You guys are hilarious...

    1. One single car kills more birds and animals then a field of wind generators... roadkill. Oil spills and pipeline leaks have killed more animals than all the wind generators in the world running for the last 7,000 years.
    2. When we're talking the net difference in building 100 wind generators compared to building a coal fired power plant that has to continually have the fuel for it extracted, processed, refined and then distributed, we get a very wide net difference in gases produced. 100 wind generators produce enough energy to power 60,000 homes.
    3. Then noise from wind generators is no different then the noise from a highway or busy roadway and the drone of the engines of the automobiles which use it.
    4. The oil used to lubricate wind generator parts is mainly synthetic oil.
    5. The biggest problem with wind and solar energy is electrical storage... we can solve that using reservoirs - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_County_Pumped_Storage_Station
    6. Property value is as trivial as the people who believe in it.

All the potential energy in the water at the top of the hill was placed into it by the windmill, steady wind or not

You missed a lot of the point. Trump was criticized for saying windmills cause cancer. There is a link to cancer when you consider the electronics involved and the noise.

I am all in favor of windmills. The more the better. However, windmills alone will not solve our energy problems because of the unreliability of wind. You can't store enough water to make up for several days of light winds. Not only that you have to create a whole new infrastructure of damns, turbines and a electrical distribution system. The problem is immense and not one we will solve in the next few decades.

I got the point... all electrical devices then cause cancer... it is cherry picking for the sake of being idiotically combative. There is a use in combination, - wind, solar, and reservoir/turbines. Yes, we need a whole new infrastructure, the one we have now, that is based off fossil fuels, is unsustainable and very much as unreliable. We can't solve it any faster by being complacent with the current infrastructure ideologies. The current AC long range transmissions require more energy and are inefficient than that of a localized DC system.

This post brought to you by 200 watts of solar and 350 watts of a wind generator and a small DC system that runs lights, radio, tv, laptop, AC converter, electric chainsaw and power tools, electric blanket, small electric heater, camera, phone, fans, and a load diversion that heats the chicken coop. I haven't paid an electrical bill in over 5 years and have never had a blackout.

That water storage infrastructure ALREADY EXISTS. It was set in the 1970's to store excess power from nuclear plants. It is connected to the grid and works just fine with power from renewable sources.

There is not nearly enough otherwise they would be providing the majority of our power. They simply provide the electrical load. At present it provides less than 10% of our power.
