    That's right.

They started declining in the 80's. Your "gun ban" had nothing to do with it.

Suicide is suicide. Australia's suicide shows clear substitution for other methods, and hit levels that exceeded pre-ban levels for guns.

The countries with the highest suicide rates in the world don't have access to guns.

13,000 homicides. That's all homicides, including police shootings and other justified shootings.

The vast number of homicides, as is true pretty much everywhere, are criminals killing criminals.

A scorpion pleaded with a frog to carry him across the river. After some convincing and promises the scorpion wouldnt sting him, the frog relented.

Half way across the river the scorpion stung the frog. As the scorpion began to drown and the frog began to die, the frog yelled "why did you sting me". The scorpion replied..."because its in my nature"...

And so it is the nature of USA to be infatuated with guns. I know it's futile arguing. But that level of infatuation deserves those comedy clips. And it also deserves many a silent prayer for the slaughtered including children...as irrelevant as you pro gunners make it out to be.

Dear do I need to repost that immigration post you so helpfully provided earlier or can I already mark you down as sufficiently admonished?

2017, the US saw 15,129 murders, for a rate of 5.4/100k
10,982 (72.6%) of these murders involved a firearm, for a rate of 3.9/100k
Thus, our non-gun murder rate for 2017 was 1.5/100k
For comparison, our knife-related murder rate was 0.6/100k
    Australia's murder rate in 2017 was 1.7/100k

Conclusion: our gun control laws aren't the problem; your gun control laws aren't the solution.
39,733 gun related deaths in 2017.
23,854 (60%) of these people chose to die.
Loss of the ability to reason.

For the simple fact that there has never been a point in time in the history of the nation of Australia, where such was not the case. The firearm-related deaths for the nation of Australia have always been lower than those of the united states, even long before the changes implemented in the wake of the Port Arthur incident.

No offence to my Aussie friends, but early on they were all criminals.

Especially the part where he pretended to open the safe … LMAO

Guy does a GREAT job making U.S. gun nuts look like a bunch of clueless, paranoid cowards...

"My rights"...me,me,me...no mention or longing thoughts for dead kiddies.
By the way, as a pro gun person what is your concern for mass murders? Do any of you have a plan? Written letters to your politicians...if so what do you say? Do you have a remedy? Apart from the ridiculous idea of more guns.
? Or is your death tally within the boundary of reason? Is it all about you?

No it does not show any substitution because overall suicide also fell

Male suicide, who are far more likely to use physical means, fell while female suicide remained virtually static

And would that not suggest that the USA could emulate those countries where the firearm morbidity is lower?

Not particularly. Any hypothetical reduction that may be achievable, at least on paper, would make no meaningful impact in the overall number of homicides committed in the united states in a given year. It would certainly not be enough to change the fact the united states has more homicides than all other supposed first world, developed nations that are held up for comparison purposes. It will always remain at the top, superseded only by nations such as Mexico and the like.
