Not surprising from a place that threatens to jail someone that serves a drink with a straw in it. This is just liberalism without the fear of having to hide what they think any longer. They are proving what we all knew.

Those that teach can do. Those that have trouble with teachers generally cannot do.

Well, hes just another America hating democrat.

If we punished him for hating America we'd have to punish all democrats.

Yep, my point is proven, through the hysterical reactions of the conservatives here. This one tapped into the Republican hatred of intellectuals and education (they're much like the Pol Pot regime in that regard). Why do the consrevative elites want the base perpetually hysterical? Because then the rubes won't notice how badly they're getting screwed.

Tomorrow, there will be a different story about a dumb supposed liberal somewhere which supposedly proves all liberals are awful. The rubes will get predictably hysterical about that as well, and start congratulating each other over the escalating hate-rants. They're well-trained, the Republican base.

'This one' strikes the nerves of more than 21 million men and women that serve and have served, you wouldn't understand. We treasure our intellectuals in the Armed forces as you can see there are many. See post #53 Conservative intellectuals have something most liberal ones don't, common sense.

I guess you didn't learn anything from logic class. One teacher does not equate "the left is crazy." Back to logic class with ye.

And enlisted men and women are encouraged to study more and get certifications and credentials even if they learn hands on skills its considered valuable and I would favor them over some prissy liberal arts educated moron.

I don't doubt that these are his opinions, and he expressed them.

If it leads to a robust conversation, great.

But if he's targeted by snowflakes who can't deal with free speech, this can't happen.

I think free speech in a context like this - high school - is great as long as he permits his students equal time to debunk him and dismantle his arguments.

But if he's as much of a snowflake as those attacking him are, then I agree his actions are inappropriate.

So some of the moronic rationalizations of this behavior in the thread would be a bit different if the target of the teacher's rant was illegal immigrants, Muslims or BLM, amirite?

BTW, there's no First Amendment issue here at all. Speech rights in the workplace are limited and rightly so. Don't believe me? Go to work and start ranting in the break room about the military in the way this teacher did. Get back to us on how that "free speech" works out for you.

If I paid property taxes so this asshat could deviate from the curriculum he is paid to teach to talk military hate or any other kind of hate, I'd be banging the phones in that county up and down the line. Guarantee those kinds of sentiments about ANY TOPIC are not part of the curriculum.

And finally, for those who think this may get kids to think and open their minds, this kind of garbage is taking time away from and detracting from the things that are supposed to open minds. That school is going to be a hornet's nest of angry parents for the next who knows how long? Is that going to be good for the kids learning process or detract from it?

    ^ Some valid points.

If this teacher sparked a conversation 1/10th as good as what we're seeing here, he should get a Teacher of the Year award!

As a matter of legal fact and not opinion there is no free speech issue at play here.

If he went after Muslims (or Jews or LGBTQ or Christians or Hindus or atheists), that would be an issue, and should be.

But terrorists or illegals or BLM?

As long as he allows equal time for debunking, I say go for it.

But if the snowflakes who hate free speech attack him, they're the ones who should be ashamed of themselves.

They're the traitors and hornets and asshats and morons and garbage spewers, not him.

Students need role models who hate free speech, or are too afraid to practice it. :salute:
