9/11 aside...because American had their sticky little fingers in the ME WAY before 9/11...this "war on terrorism" is nothing more than a bunch of Islamist extremists...fighting against a bunch of Christian extremists. Except its bankrupting the Christian extremists. Tell me something...WHO'S winning?
I couldn't disagree more. In every respect, AQ is a shattered remnant of the organization that existed during the 1990s. It no longer possesses the military capability, financing and popularity that it enjoyed during its brief zenith. As for Islamism and Islamists, I think AQ, et al, have hurt the Islamist cause, but they haven't destroyed it. Theocratic groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and Jamaat-e-Islami will probably endure as long as Islam endures. It's just a question of how prominent or marginal they will be in the future...
So ... smarty pants ... a letter written by UBL a year after the event, with him telling such as you why it was a "success" in his unbiased eyes, makes it so ? We know from earlier writings, and postings documenting such in this thread, that he expected the US to cower, not respond militarily, and reduce its presence in the ME. Wrong answer, dontcha think Now Usama BL is dead. A US of A bullet clean through his **********. Shot in his jammies jumping out of bed. "Oh $hit" was the last thing that puke ever said.
Evidently, you're attempting to pretend that the bin Laden and his jihadist co-travelers have never been at odds with Russia and China. The answer to your stupid question is obvious - after defeating the Soviets, bin Laden turned his attention to taking down the other infidel superpower that existed at the time. There's also the matter that bin Laden wanted to drive a wedge between the men who turned down his assistance after Gulf War I and the country that was protecting their kingdom. But, go ahead and cry JOOO!!!, moon...
I wouldn't paint Western oil exploitation with the same brush.. The British model was an abject failure.. The American model without the interference of the US government worked.
na thats not it. Osama attacked us cause of our foreign policy. Mainly Bill Clintons foreign policy. 1. Bill Clinton was a dumbass. He should have removed Saddam Hussein from power. He didnt, he pretended Saddam didnt exist, and left all our troops sitting in Saudi Arabia for 8 years. Infidels in the muslim holy land, AKA Saudia Arabia.... 2. Bill Clinton blew up an aspirin factory, built by Osama, in an effort to deflect attention from his Cigar smuggling attempts in the Oval office with Monica Lewinski... 3. The king of Saudi Arabia laughed at Osama when he suggested his Mujahadeen could stop a Saddam led invasion of Saudi...
As far as I can gather 9/11 was a warning from Bin Laden that the U.S. needs to keep out of the Middle East and the affairs of Muslims. That the United States very freindly relationship and air base in Saudia Arabia are indications that the U.S. wants an Oil ally and is willing to pervert centuries of Religious tradition in order to guarantee some control in the region.9/11 was a warning for the United States to stay out of the business of the Middle East.
Our troops stayed in Arabia for 13 years AFTER a promise from Cheney that they would leave after Gulf War 1.. Osama had NOTHING to do with the generic drug factory in Sudan.. that was a completely separate Saudi businessman. Lousy intel... but that was NOT the source of 9-11.
For someone who has just spewed such a load of ignorant, bigoted, jingoist diarrhea, I'd be careful about calling anyone else a barbarian. This post is the epitome of the modern American barbarian mentality.
You are correct, Rapunzel. Here is an explanation by Osama bin Laden himself as to why he and the other the Islamofascists attacked us on 9-11. People, these guys are a bunch of "certifiable" nut cases! Why the liberals in this group like Surfer Joe and Margot so ardently defend them and their irrational actions as justified by the "Holy Quran" is truly beyond me!
If he did that he would have been as much of a terrorist as Bush and bin Laden. And your pathetic attempt to rewrite history overlooks the fact that when Saddam was killing the Kurds, another terrorist, Reagan, a big supporter of Saddam, vetoed a Senate resolution condemning Iraq. http://www.iranchamber.com/history/articles/arming_iraq.php
If you want to get inside the minds of Al Qaida and try to make sense of their motives, watch Lawrence Wright's "My Trip to Al Qaida". In a nutshell, their mostly irrational actions are the result of humiliation.... The main instance of which was when the Saudi Royals rejected Bin Laden's offer of protection of Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm (Gulf War I) and instead embraced America's assistance.
Yeah the went there because we were there, they made Iraq the frontline of the war on terror. Which was good for us and a HUGE strategic mistake on their part, they lost the defensive advantage they had in Afghanistan and took the war to where we had an offensive advantage. It was much better we fought them there than in Afghanistan.
He attempted to and with the Congress made it our official policy. He just failed at it. Bush did not fail. He succeeded in both goals. Remove Saddam, install an elected government.
Politics make me cuckoo. How do I unsubscribe? It is my very favorite internet option these days. Not complaining about the forum, just unsubscribe is so much fun and relieves a great deal of stress.
We have bases all over the world, many of them in countries where the majority of the people oppose our presence, and yet it is only the muslims lash out by killing innocent civilians. Had it been the egyptian army, instead of the US they wouldnt of had a problem, because they are muslims. Their only problem is that we are not muslims. Its a religious thing.
